Accessories & Packaging
After unboxing the Jays a-JAYS Three you will find 5 pair of silicone eartips, a hard carrying case, 1 flight adapter, 1 stereo splitter and the packaging itself that being so well and ruggedly designed is perfectly usable as a hard storage case.
Bass & Sub Bass
The Jays a-JAYS Three bass is very punchy and deep with a strong and fun response but does not fall into boomy sound nor is bloated. The amount of bass provided will be more than enough under any music genre.
Applying an EQ, there was a gigantic increase of mid-bass punch and of their sub-bass depth while still no boomy bass was introduced.
Putting the Jays a-JAYS Three through our extreme basshead tests they were able to handle 49% of the maximum power coming from a Fiio E12 Mont Blanc amplifier (bass boost on, high gain and basshead EQ) responding with a huge amount of punch and depth with some basshead rumble and impact almost as strong as the KZ ATE or Xiaomi Mi Pro HD and below the Elecom EHP-CA3580, Xiaomi Mi In-Ear Headphones Pro, Senfer 4in1 or the Sony MDR-EX800ST.

Mids & Vocals
The Jays a-JAYS Three offer mids that have clear enough lower vocals and lower mids with no mid-bass bleed. Higher mids are not rolled off and can get harsh at times. Using an EQ, lower vocals sound extremely clear while higher mids become much harsher.
Highs & Treble
The Jays a-JAYS Three have highs that are bright and are able to resolve some detail. On the other hand, piercing highs can be very frequent as well as sibilance. With an EQ, a great level of brightness is added but not much extra detail is resolved and their sibilance becomes unbearably strong and frequent.
The sound that leaks out of the Jays a-JAYS Three is somewhat stronger than most average earphones, not terribly strong but listening to music at moderate-high volume makes them audible by nearby people.
Sound isolation is good, offering a performance above most average earphones. With the Jays a-JAYS Three there is no need of cranking up the volume to the extreme to reduce the perceivable noise in your surroundings.
The tiny size and flush fit of the Jays a-JAYS Three allows them to provide an excellent comfort level with no issues of in-ear pain or fatigue. Their fit is perfectly flush as to allow them to classify in our Best Earphones for Helmets Charts.
Response to Equalization
The diverse custom EQs that we threw at the Jays a-JAYS Three resulted in some improvements but also several issues. Mids responded with clear lower vocals but harsher higher mids. Highs despite gaining extra brightness they became annihilating sibilant. Bass frequencies responded excellent with a gigantic empowering of their punch and depth without adding problems.
