Accessories & Packaging
The MEIZU EP51 unboxing results in 4 pair of eartips with incorporated wings, a USB charging cable and a very nicely built hard carrying case; everything is neatly packed inside an attractive packaging that has been usefully designed to function as a storage case as well.
The MEIZU EP51 have a nice bass response with a balanced yet energetic enough style. Their bass is pleasant and well achieved providing the right amount of bass at the right moment and will never get out of control or become boomy nor muffle the whole sound. Nevertheless, their bass does not fall short or sound anemic at all.
Remember that a higher score in the “Bass/Sub Bass” category does not always represents stronger bass and the MEIZU’s bass score is one of this case; their high score obtained is due to their pleasant, controlled but energetic and very well resolved bass.
With an EQ, their bass shows a total makeover that was highly unexpected. Mid-bass becomes insanely punchy and sub-bass reaches a wildly-deep level. Outstanding EQ response here.

The MEIZU EP51 mids have super clear vocals with energetic and never congested lower mids, mid-bass never steps over mid frequencies. Higher mids are very crisp and not rolled off at all but harsh peaks show up.
Using an EQ, this MEIZU headphones showed a clear improvement over higher mids with an efficient reduction of their harsh peaks. The EQ tip, reducing +/- 5 dB (aprox.) at frequencies in between 2.5kHz and 5kHz will do the job.
The MEIZU EP51 highs are very bright and resolve some detail, these have a very bright style but do not suffer from strong sibilance; piercing highs will be present.
Applying an EQ you can choose 2 different ways, boost for brightness and detail or aimed to reduce their piercing peaks. Any of the chosen roads will show a great amount of response but enhancing brightness is not needed for the MEIZU EP51, instead their piercing highs can be absolutely cancelled without loosing an excessive amount of brightness by applying the exact same EQ that we mentioned in the Mids/Vocals section.
The sound that leaks out of these Bluetooth headphones is almost on level with some average earphones, with probably some more leakage.

Response to Equalization
The MEIZU EP51 extraordinarily responded to every EQ. Mids and vocals did not needed much help to clear up but highly benefited from reducing their harsh higher peaks. Highs, likewise mids, did not needed too much help from an EQ except for their piercing peaks and, once again, they can be almost exterminated by applying the same EQ used for mids. Mid-bass and sub-bass can be transformed from a balanced and rich style to a crazy strong bass style.
