Perhaps Symphonized is not the first brand that will come to mind when thinking about headphones due to their young age but they have a vast amount of headphones, earphones and Bluetooth speakers in their catalog with the use of wood as their main construction material. Many of their products have a strong presence in the market like the:

The “3.0” on this earphone’s name indicates that this is the 3rd version of this model, you might still find online the Symphonized NRG 1.0 and the Symphonized NRG 2.0. The Symphonized NRG 3.0, with their wooden housings and metal accents, give a strong durability touch sensation. The housing’s metal details include a front ring, a cable connection section and a rear section with a metal grid that suggests an open-back design. This rear metal grid design style has been seen in our reviews of other earphones such as the KZ ZSE, KZ ED9, 1MORE Piston Classic in-ear headphones, KZ EDR2, Langsdom JM21 and DZAT DF-10, which more often than not proved to be just an aesthetic detail.

The cable is rounded and substantially rubberized to combat tangling issues, the cable bifurcation section is made of metal and the mini stereo plug has a 45 angle design, which many people like a lot. The Symphonized NRG 3.0 comes with an inline microphone and a 3-button control remote with dedicated volume buttons to easily change volume levels. The remote control will allow you to skip songs, play/pause music, answer/reject calls, set the volume up or down and launch the voice assistance function of your smartphone.

The Symphonized NRG 3.0 is fully compatible with either Apple and Android devices. The Symphonized NRG 3.0 come in a wide variety of colors. According to your color choice the cable and eartips will having matching color combinations and the wood color will also be darker or lighter depending on the model that you choose.

Accessories & Packaging

The Symphonized NRG 3.0 unboxing results in 6 pair of eartips (3 black pairs and 3 pair of light colored ones), a cable clip and an eco-friendly soft carrying pouch that looks very similar to the one included with the DZAT DF-10. The earphones come packed inside a fairly simple cardboard box with a plastic transparent front cover.

Bass & Sub Bass

The Symphonized NRG 3.0‘s neodymium magnets and 8mm dynamic driver provide a highly punchy and energetic mid-bass with also deep sub-bass. The bass style of the NRG 3.0 has “party” written all over it. With the strength of their mid-bass punch and sub-bass depth they will satisfy the needs of people who enjoy fun and powerful bass from their listening sessions.

Applying an EQ, their mid-bass and sub-bass gets crazy punchy and deep.

During our extreme bass tests the Symphonized NRG 3.0 were able to handle 47% of the maximum power coming from a Fiio E12 amplifier (high gain, bass boost turned on, custom basshead EQ) and resulted in an insane increment of both mid-bass and sub-bass reaching a very respectable basshead rumble and impact that is way above the KZ ATE, Xiaomi Mi Pro HD or the Monoprice 8320 and almost on the same level with the Elecom EHP-CA3580 (though less sub-bass depth on the Symphonized) and Xiaomi Mi In-Ear Headphones Pro or the KZ ZS2.

Mids & Vocals

The Symphonized NRG 3.0 have warm mids and clear higher mids. Lower mids and lower vocals show a strong mid-bass bleed presence that might make them sound congested with bassy songs but still their lower vocals are able to sound clear and energetic without seeming distant or too recessed. Higher mids do not sound harsh or fatiguing at any given moment. With an EQ there is a very efficient reduction of mid-bass bleed making lower mids and lower vocals much less congested and clearer, higher mids sound crispier yet not harsh.

Highs & Treble

The Symphonized NRG 3.0 highs have enough brightness and are able to resolve some detail. Normal listeners will probably feel them sufficiently bright and detailed. Piercing highs do not show up even on highly strong peaks, on the other hand, sibilance is present with very sibilant prone tracks. An EQ adds a very noticeable amount of brightness and a great amount of extra detail is resolved; sibilance becomes stronger while piercing highs are still not present.

Sound Leak

The back metal grid on the housings of the Symphonized NRG 3.0 suggested an open-back design and they are (sort of), if you put your ears over the metal grids you will hear them loud and clear almost like putting them straightforward. Despite this, their sound leaking level is fairly contained and is as hearable, by nearby people, as most average earphones; you will be able to listen at your music at a crazy high volume and their sound leaking levels will blend with the noises of a normally busy city.

Sound Isolation

Noise isolation is good, better than many average earphones. A moderate volume can be set and the Symphonized NRG 3.0 will be able to noticeably subdue the perceivable surrounding noises.

Comfort

The housings of the Symphonized NRG 3.0 could be longer than what you are used to but the design is well crafted and result in excellent comfort and fit. Their higher than average protruding size does not make them cumbersome or ridiculous it actually gives them a really easy grabbing section to put them in, out or to re-arrange their fit at any moment. Moreover, it’s remote control with their dedicated volume buttons allows a easy and on-the-go modification of volume levels without having to take out your smartphone from your pocket.

Response to Equalization

The Symphonized NRG 3.0 highly benefited from the use of EQs, important improvements were added to their lower mids and lower vocals becoming much more clear and less congested, highs gained a strong amount of added detail and brightness and bass frequencies got punchier and deeper.
