TIN Audio T2 Pro – Review

TIN Audio T2 PRO

TIN Audio T2 PRO

| 10 mm Driver | 6mm Driver |

? TIN Audio T2 PRO, the 2nd version of the Tin Audio T2 line.

The TIN Audio T2 PRO features a double dynamic driver configuration, including a 10mm DD and a 6mm DD. The brand labels the 10mm driver as a woofer and the 6mm as a tweeter.

The TIN Audio T2 PRO has detachable cables with MMCX connectors – which are very popular and also allow to easily convert them into Bluetooth wireless with these cables or even in truly wireless with these cables.

The cable has a very nice and robust 3.5mm plug connector with a silver carbon fiber pattern, a metal cable bifurcation section made of the same quality as the earpieces and a hollow sphere that acts as a cable tightener (made of transparent plastic)

The left and right earpiece can be identified by a color coding on the MMCX connector with a red ring indicating the right earpiece and a blue one for the left side. The cable will help users recognize each side with an “L” (left) and “R” (right) engraving on the plastic connector end.

The  – the form factor, construction and weight is solid and inline with the Yinyoo V2 , TIN Audio T2 (first version) and Yersen EFN-2000.

Some users might be wondering what sets apart the TIN Audio T2 PRO vs TIN Audio T2. The first and clearest difference is that the TIN Audio T2 PRO is the latest version and the T2 (non-pro) is the oldest model.

Moreover, according to the manufacturer, the TIN Audio T2 vs TIN Audio T2 PRO differ also on their sound. The brand states that the TIN Audio T2 vs T2 PRO show different sounding personalities such as “additional upper frequency response” for the T2 PRO and also “enhanced low frequency”.

TinHiFi resumes the TIN Audio T2 PRO vs TIN Audio T2 differences saying that the T2 PRO has a “clearer, more delicate treble; rich emphasized bass; subtle, natural vocals; and a great amount of detail all around with little or no distortion”

We will evaluate through out this TIN Audio T2 PRO review, if they live up to the manufacturer statements.

You can buy the TIN Audio T2 PRO in gun metal color.

Accessories & Packaging

Inside the box there is a book-alike case that holds the unit and all the accessories inside.

TinHiFi might have gotten this design inspiration from 1MORE as this is a standard packaging design found in models such as the:

The TIN Audio T2 PRO unboxing results in the MMCX detachable cable, 6 pair of eartips, 1 pair of blue foam tips and 3 pair of Sony look-alike eartips – this Sony-styled eartips have a colored back like those seen on the Sony MDR7550 and Sony MDR-EX1000.

B

Bass & Sub Bass

The TIN Audio T2 PRO bass (tested with the stock blue foam tips) is fairly balanced with a non-invasive style that can still provide a full-bodied and energetic sound.

With a sub-bass tuning that sits on the frontier of conservative-bassy, listeners should not expect a bass-centered sound nor an extremely deep and super punchy lower frequency but neither an anemic bass.

Their less-boosted and rolled-off lower end response will make them a good choice for listeners wanting a multi-use earphone to cover a wide gamut of genres.

Important to highlight that users looking for a bassy earphone will not get their demands fulfilled on bass-hungry music styles with the TIN Audio T2 PRO.

Some listeners will argue that the TIN Audio T2 PRO lacks sub-bass while others will rate them as more “refined”, truly this will be a matter of each listener’s sound preferences.

Applying an EQ adds punch to their bass but the TIN Audio T2 PRO will not unleash too much additional depth.

During our extreme bass tests, the TIN Audio T2 PRO handled up to 37.5% of the maximum power of a FiiO E12 (new model called FiiO A5) revealing a prominent mid-bass punch and revealing a hugely deeper sub-bass. Despite these results, they were not able to provide any significant rumble nor impact to compete with heavy-weights such as the Pioneer SE-CX8, Sony MDR-EX800st, Sony MDR7550, Pioneer SE-CX9, Sony MDR-EX650, KZ ZSR, KZ ZST nor with the Xiaomi Mi In-Ear Headphones Pro, ELECOM EHP-CA3580.

Mids & Vocals

The TIN Audio T2 PRO mids (tested with the stock blue foam tips) despite not suffering from congestion with no invading mid-bass bleed, their male vocals are slightly distant and relaxed.

The middle and upper end of their midrange are clear and more emphasized than their lower mids.

Despite this, there are no harsh peaks nor they exhibit a forward higher mids tuning.

Overall, the mids of the TIN Audio T2 PRO sound pleasant, with the right amount of warmth and with a sparkly tint on the upper end.

With an EQ their male vocals and lower mids can be given the extra boosting needed to sound much more alive and clear without making their mids harsh nor boxy at all – superb EQ response here.

Highs & Treble

The TIN Audio T2 PRO have very bright highs and are able to resolve a nice amount of detail – tested with the stock blue foam tips.

Their sibilance might become frequent on very sibilant-prone tracks but piercing peaks will be rarely heard.

The highs of the TIN Audio T2 PRO have a cheerful and sparkling style that will be welcomed by listeners looking for brightness and detail on their listening sessions.

An EQ reveals a huge amount of detail, a miles brighter sound and an overall much more open sound – expect stronger sibilance too.

Sound Leak

The sound leaking out of the TIN Audio T2 PRO is substantially under control. Users can feel safe cranking up the volume of their listening sessions without having to worry about disturbing nearby people.

Sound Isolation

The sound isolation provided by the TIN Audio T2 PRO is strong and very noticeable right away when wearing them – reaching an absolute isolation is no issue with the TIN Audio T2 PRO.

Their isolation is even more pronounced with no sound coming out of them than on many low-averaged earphones with music playing.

C

Comfort

The TIN Audio T2 PRO are very comfortable to wear if used with the cable going up and around the ears – like you would wear IEMs such as the TRN V80, SENFER DT8, KZ ZSN, KZ BA10, BQEYZ BQ3, RevoNext QT2, TFZ Series 2, KZ AS10, KZ ZS10.

Instead, if the earpieces are placed with the cable connector pointing down (“incorrect” fit), their comfort level gets reduced by the MMCX connector end touching the lower back edge of the ears. Said so, we aware to wear them correctly to maximize their comfort.

Response to Equalization

The response to EQ of the TIN Audio T2 PRO was remarkable on mids and vocals and also on their highs brightness and detail.

Lower frequencies could squeeze some extra punch and depth but do not expect a drastic change in this range.
