Letv Reverse – Review

Letv Reverse

Letv Reverse

| 13 mm Driver |

? Leco Letv is a brand better known for phones and tvs but they have 2 or 3 earphones on market at this time, one of them is the Letv Reverse. They have an interesting 13mm dynamic driver inside and a sport-like design.

The Letv Reverse have a memory wire to hold better the cable in position when wearing them. The cable is rubbery and tangle free with a inline microphone and a 3 button control (play/pause, volume up and volume down).

The housing is made of plastic with a metallic disc on the rear part, overall they are very light and have a good construction quality.

Leco sells the Letv Reverse in 4 different colours: black, white, pink and turquoise blue.

A

Accessories & Packaging

The Letv Revese come inside a hard plastic box that can be used for storage, the design of the packaging is minimalist and well polished, inside the small box there are 3 pair of eartips.

B

Bass & Sub Bass

The Letv Reverse have an above average sized dynamic driver (13mm), usually there is the misconception of associating bass intensity with the driver size, see some examples on our review of the Monoprice 8320 or the Vots QT100. The Letv could be another case of large dynamic driver that fails to deliver strong bass? We will find out.

If you press and hold them with your fingers, fit gets tighter and bass response improves a lot

Bass and sub-bass are emphasized and present but they do not hit too hard mainly because the bass response gets lost due to the fit inside the ear canal that is not very deep and tight. If you press and hold them with your fingers, fit gets tighter and bass response improves a lot. Equalizing emphasizes bass but not too much, if adding an amplifier things get surprising.

Connected to a Fiio E12 on high gain and bass boost on; the Letv equalized for basshead response are able to handle 55% of Fiio’s maximum power and deliver a surprisingly deep bass that rumbles and generates sub-bass impact higher than the KZ ATE and below the Vots QT100 or Monoprice 8320. If you try the same technique of pressing and holding them deeper in your ear canal the Letv Reverse will amaze with the basshead impact that they gain, surpassing easily the aforementioned and even above the Xiaomi Mi Quantie Pro Hybrid, Elecom EHP-CA3580, the KZ ZST, KZ ZS2 and the JVC HA-FX1X. Of course, the fact that you have to hold them with your fingers to achieve this level is preposterous.

M

Mids & Vocals

Mids, though mildly recessed, have a good balance for the overall sound signature and are not harsh. Mids and vocals do not get lost but may lack some more emphasis at times. Middle mids and high mids can be slightly emphasized equalizing them if you want to and the Letv still never become harsh.

H

Highs & Treble

Highs are recessed but not to the extreme of totally loosing perception of the frequency, they still are not particularly detailed or bright. The Letv are not too sibilant, you may feel a hint of it with specifically strong sibilant peaks. They are not piercing but if you boost these frequencies they become piercing very quickly.

SL

Sound Leak

The sound that leaks out of Letv is significant. Not an excellent private listening earphone.

SI

Sound Isolation

The type of “not so deep” fit leaves space between the ear canal and the nozzle/housing making them not too great cancelling noise but might be great if you are planing to use them for running or any other activity when you want to be aware of your surroundings.

C

Comfort

The Letv Reverse are very comfortable and having the sport over and around the ear type of wearing, combined with the memory cable makes them secure to hold their place and still be comfortable. Adding the fact that the fit of the Letv does not get too profound in the ear canal makes them less invasive and easily wearable for long time without any soreness. They also fit flush with your ears so you can wear them while resting you head sideways on a pillow.

EQ

Response to Equalization

Highs can be equalized but not too much or they will become sibilant easily. Mid and vocals frequencies respond well to eq never becoming harsh despite being pushed forward by the custom eq. Bass response improves with eq but marginally. On the other hand, if amplified and eqed bass response is great.
