? Alfawise JH-ANC804, a wireless headphone with active noise cancelling and friendly price.

This Alfawise headphone offers a fully over-ear fit with an oval cup’s design – different to over-ear headphones with rounded cups like the Razer Kraken 7.1 V2 or the Xiaomi Mi Gaming Headset.

The tilting cups can also be rotated to lay fully flat – feature that other budget Bluetooth headphones such as the Edifier W806BT do not offer.

Each side has “L” and “R” big writing in the inner earcups to easily recognize each side – like seen with the Xiaomi Mi Headphones 2nd generation and 1MORE Triple Driver Over-Ear Headphones.

The Alfawise JH-ANC804 unboxing results in a nice carrying case with an inner mesh pocket, an audio cable, a charging cable and a nice rubberized audio cable with an L-plug – even premium headphones such as the Bowers & Wilkins PX offer inferior quality cables bundled with the unit.

Bass & Sub Bass

Bluetooth On – ANC Off

The Alfawise JH-ANC804 has a huge mid-bass response and deep sub-bass. Their overall bass is so strong that even rumble and impact can be felt around the cheekbones, without even needing to EQ nor apply advanced basshead techniques.

This tuning will be a delight for bassheads and bassy headphones fans.

Of course, expect a bloated and out-of-control bass from them.

With an EQ, the already insane, bass gains an even stronger rumble and impact.

Through out our basshead tests, the unit was able to take up to 37,5% of the max power of a FiiO A5. The results were a very respectable basshead impact and way unexpected from a headphone at this price point.

Bluetooth On – ANC On

When turning the ANC On, their low-end, still, offers energetic mid-bass and sub-bass but with a way more controlled and less powerful profile than with ANC turned off.

This mode should be used for/when listeners that are looking for a cleaner and less bass-centered experience.

Mids & Vocals

Bluetooth On – ANC Off

The massive bass gets over their midrange adding a strong amount of congestion.

Lower mids and male vocals will get thrown to the background of the track by their mid-bass.

Higher mids, start to separate from this bleeding and sound less congested, being able to offer some crispness.

To their benefit, no harshness will arise.

Some reduction of their congestion can be achieved with advanced EQ knowledge but it will be easier to simply turn on their ANC (read ahead)

Bluetooth On – ANC On

With ANC On, there is a groundbreaking difference on their midrange(in comparison to ANC off), with a pronounced reduction of mid-bass and it’s bleeding, offering a noticeably less congested sound.

Male vocals and lower mids will sound much better with ANC off, yet expect some boxy vocals. Higher mids will also gain crispness and clarity.

A custom EQ can fine-tune and repair most of the flaws in their midrange with substantial results.

Highs & Treble

Bluetooth On – ANC Off

As with their midrange, bass takes ownership of the overall sound of their highs and treble too, making them sound dark and congested, yet detail is resolved.

Same as with mids, it is easier and more efficient to turn on ANC to achieve a significant sound difference than trying to “fix” it with an EQ.

Bluetooth On – ANC On

The reduction of bass with ANC turned on, grants a much cleaner highs response with an unexpectedly detailed response.

The price paid for this brightness and detail improvement will be sibilant and possibly piercing peaks.

An eq can reveal a way brighter response but also much more fatiguing peaks will arise.

Sound Leak

With the volume crank to the max., their leakage will make them significantly hearable by nearby people – this is not a headphone for libraries.

Sound Isolation

The passive sound isolation provided by the Alfawise JH-ANC804 is very efficient (with ANC turned off).

When turning their ANC On, their isolation capabilities get exponentially enhanced with a maximum reduction of up to -15 dB – ANC works with or without turning the unit on, meaning that it can be used as a noise cancelling headset without Bluetooth nor music , if wanted.

Comfort

With it’s light weight, good padding on both cups and headband, full over-ear design, rotating and tilting cups, the Alfawise JH-ANC804 result in a highly comfortable and non-fatiguing experience.

The unit’s particularly light weight has an abysmal difference with other affordable Bluetooth Active Noise Cancelling headphones such as the: Bluedio T6 , Bluedio T5 , Bluedio T4 and more inline with the Bluedio TM ANC.

Despite the mostly plastic construction the Alfawise JH-ANC804 does not feel as flimsy as the COWIN E7.

Moreover, the headband has a metal structure (ike the Xiaomi Mi Foldable Bluetooth Headphones) and clicking headband positions – like the Xiaomi Mi Comfort Headphones.
