? We are reviewing the BlitzWolf BW-ANC1, a Bluetooth headphone with Active Noise Cancelling.

The BlitzWolf BW-ANC1 7 features metal housings, Bluetooth v4.1, Active Noise Cancelling technology and an IPX4 splash-proof rating.

Blitzwolf is expanding their earphones catalog with some exciting products like the: BlitzWolf BW-BTS1 and the BlitzWolf BW-ANC1, which are both new type of products for the brand. The first being a wireless headphones and the second one a Bluetooth headphone with Active Noise Cancelling.

Blitzwolf has designed the BW-ANC1 in a particular hybrid wearing and style; being designed and used to be fit like normal earphones, having also a Y-cable that is meant to go to forward and a Bluetooth + ANC module that sits at the end of the cable with a clip to fix it to your jacket / shirt.

The housings and every detail (microphone section, cable bifurcation, ANC module) are built with a solid CNC metal alloy and have a back housings with a turbine-like aesthetic. Inside the housings there is a large 12mm dynamic driver that will be responsible of reproducing all the audio frequencies.

The Bluetooth / ANC module is different than most usual ANC modules that have a rectangular shape, the Blitzwolf BW-ANC1 has a square module with a back clip and a metal construction with a rubberized front.  This module has 4 buttons: Vol+, Vol-, Multifunction (central button) and on the side next to the charging port you will find the ANC button.

The cable of the BlitzWolf BW-ANC1 is a half-braided, half-rubberized cable with a thick and durable feel.

The BlitzWolf BW-ANC1 advanced features include:

Operation & Control

The 4 buttons located in the ANC/Bluetooth module of the Blitzwolf BW-ANC1 allows you to do the following:

Middle/Multifunction Button (infinite button):

• A press and hold: Power On and set to pairing mode
• A single press: Play, Pause music or Answer calls
• A press and hold while turned ON: Power off

Volume UP Button (bigger circle):

• A single press: Volume up by 1 level
• A 1 second press and hold: Skip to next song

Volume Down Button (smaller circle):

• A single press: Volume down by 1 level
• A 1 second press and hold: Previous song

Active Noise Cancelling Button:

• A single press: Switches their Active Noise Cancelling On or Off

LED Status Light: The ANC/Bluetooth module holds also a LED light to indicate the status of the headphone, pairing mode, connected and the Active Noise Cancelling On or Off status.

Charging: To charge the BlitzWolf BW-ANC1 you need to plug it through it’s Micro USB connector located on the ANC/Bluetooth module under a rubber gasket. The LED in the same module will indicate the status of the charge. The battery life of the BlitzWolf BW-ANC1 offers: 7 hours of playtime, 240 hours of standby and charges fully in 1.5 hours (to 2 hours).

Accessories & Packaging

The BlitzWolf BW-ANC1 unboxing results in 2 pair of eartips (plus a third pair already placed on the earpieces), a cable tightener, a USB cable and a hard carrying case. Everything comes inside the exact same packaging as the BlitzWolf BW-BTS1, which is a small, rectangular box.

Bass & Sub Bass

The BlitzWolf BW-ANC1 offer a fun, punchy and deep bass response that is well-balanced between mid-bass and sub-bass. The BW-ANC1 are tuned to fulfill any genre’s bass requisites but are not too boosted nor become boomy. Considering their punchy and deep profile, their bass is remarkably controlled and not too invasive.

Applying an EQ, very strong extra punch added and insane deepening of the sub-bass.

Mids & Vocals

The BlitzWolf BW-ANC1 have warm mids with full-bodied vocals and present male vocals that do not sound distant nor laid-back, some mid-bass bleed can be perceived but does not congest excessively their mids. Higher mids are crisp and clear but not forward, at the same time they do not become harsh.

The BW-ANC1 present a phenomenal response to EQ, with impressive clearing of vocals, reduction of mid-bass bleed and with crispier but not harsh higher mids.

Highs & Treble

The BlitzWolf BW-ANC1 highs are bright and resolve a good amount of detail. Like their mids, their highs are not recessed but neither forward, providing smooth non-fatiguing sound yet bright and not muffled. Piercing highs are not an issue with them but sibilance can show up with very sibilant peaks.

An EQ gives them an outstanding brightening and opening-up of their sound but with the con of piercing highs introduction and stronger sibilance.

Sound Leak

The sound leaking out of the Blitzwolf BW-ANC1 is somewhat lower than most average earphones but if you dial up the volume a lot their sound will be heard by nearby people.

Sound Isolation

Passive noise isolation is fairly stronger than most average earphones, with their Active Noise Cancelling off. Activating their ANC, the amount of isolation and noise reduction becomes immensely more efficient.

We measured a maximum noise cancellation of 24.3 dB, which averaged mostly at 20.5dB, followed by an averaged 15dB reduction fairly extended up to +/- 1kHz. Some Active Noise Cancelling systems take some time to activate, the Blitzwolf BW-ANC1 can switch their ANC on or off immediately by pressing the dedicated button (a white LED will confirm that ANC is on). Their ANC is very efficient and provide a greatly noticeable degree of reduction.

Many times Active Noise Cancelling headphones show a noticeable sound quality variation when they are used with their ANC function turned on versus when it is off. The BlitzWolf BW-ANC1 does not suffer from this phenomenon (at all), their sound quality remains exactly the same whether being used with ANC on or with it turned off.

To activate their ANC you need to turn on their Bluetooth.

Comfort

With their angled nozzles and housings design very similar to many Xiaomi headphones and 1MORE headphones, the BlitzWolf BW-ANC1 offers a very comfortable experience that allows them to be worn for hours without distress.

The innovative Bluetooth / ANC module design and wearing style could be a positive aspect to whom is used to clip earphone’s cables to their shirts/jackets. Another aspect that adds to their practical use is their clicky buttons that ensure a confident feedback when pressed.

Response to Equalization

The overall response to EQ of the BlitzWolf BW-ANC1 was overall great with a colossal general refinement of their sound (something similar that we saw with the Blitzwolf BW-VOX1).

The BlitzWolf BW-ANC1 are excellent earphones with well-balanced and pleasant sound that does not fall into anemic bass. With their Bluetooth and strong noise cancellation of their Active Noise Cancelling function, they offer a very good run for the money.
The BlitzWolf BW-ANC1 can be safely recommended and even more to frequent flight travelers.
