? BlitzWolf BW-BTS1, the first Bluetooth headphone from Blitzwolf.

With the BlitzWolf BW-BTS1, the brand is entering the market of sports and wireless headphones for the first time.

The BlitzWolf BW-BTS1 features Bluetooth v4.1, an IPX4 waterproof rating, removable earwings and angled nozzles.

We have reviewed almost every headphone from Blitzwolf and every one had excellent sound quality and super friendly price, like the Blitzwolf BW-ES1 and the Blitzwolf BW-VOX1. If their past reputation and standards are maintained, the Blitzwolf BW-BTS1 could be an interesting model. Of course, we will find it out later on in this review.

The housings of the BlitzWolf BW-BTS1 have a solid construction made of CNC steel and magnetic back housings that strongly attach to each other.

The cable that links each earpiece is rounded and rubberized. Through out the cable you will find a microphone / remote with the micro USB charging port and 3 buttons.

Advanced Features

The BlitzWolf BW-BTS1 features include advanced options such as:

• IPX4 Rating: the BlitzWolf BW-BTS have a waterproof rating of IPX4 which ensure that they are splash and sweat proof
• Magnetic housings: each earpiece has a magnetic back plate that allows them to attach to each other magnetically
• Voice prompts: English speaking voices will let you know the status of the headphone such as: pairing, low battery, power on, power off
• Simultaneous connection: the BlitzWolf BW-BTS1 can be connected with up to 2 devices at the same time and switch between them on-the-fly

Operation & Control

The microphone/control of the BlitzWolf BW-BTS1 allows you to do the following:

Middle Button:

• A long press and hold: Power On and set to pairing mode
• A single press: Play, Pause music or Answer calls

Volume UP Button:

• A single press: Volume up by 1 level
• A 1 second press and hold: Skip to next song

Volume Down Button:

• A single press: Volume down by 1 level
• A 1 second press and hold: Previous song

Calls Commands:

• Short Press of Middle Button: Answer / End call
• 2x press of Middle Button: Redial
• A 1 second press and hold of Middle Button: During incoming call, reject call

LED Status Light: A very small LED light is placed in the remote/mic of the BlitzWolf BW-BTS1, above the Vol+ button. This LED will let you know if the headphones are in pairing mode (alternating blue/red), powered on (blue), charging (red), etc.

Charging: To charge the BlitzWolf BW-BTS1 they need to be connected through their micro USB port with the cable provided, a full charge takes 1.5 hours and the LED lights will inform the status of the charge.

Accessories & Packaging

The BlitzWolf BW-BTS1 unboxing results in a cable tightener, 2 pair of silicone eartips, a micro USB cable, a hard storage/carrying case, 2 pair of earwings (BlitzWolf calls them Bionic eartips / Shark Fins eartips) and a cable clip. Everything is packed inside a well-protected, small, rectangular box.

Bass & Sub Bass

The BlitzWolf BW-BTS1 bass is very punchy and can get deep. Their bass is energetic, with a fun styled tuning to cover any modern genre that requires a powerful bass response without falling short. They are not a basshead earphone but offer a very strong mid-bass that will work well to pump up your energy during a hard training session.

Applying an EQ, things can get muddier but they will also respond with a much punchier and deeper bass.

Mids & Vocals

The BlitzWolf BW-BTS1 mids are very warm, substantial mid-bass bleed is present which adds congestion to their lower vocals. Nonetheless, their male vocals do not sound distant. Higher mids are gentle but not absent of crispness. Overall, expect warm mids with higher mids that are free of harshness by giving up some extra crispness.

Setting an EQ to lower their mid-bass bleed and boost their lower, mid and upper mids will sound clearer and a bit crispier. Their very warm and gentle sound signature will remain.

Highs & Treble

The BlitzWolf BW-BTS1 highs are bright enough and resolve some detail too, piercing highs are never present, sibilance is mild and rarely shows up. Their style is fairly bright with a darkish tint  generated by their very-present bass, still they are not a dark sounding headphone.

An EQ shows much better their highs response that gets shy by their strong bass, resulting now in a much more open sound with, also, more detailed and bright sound.

Sound Leak

The sound that leaks out of the BlitzWolf BW-BTS1 is substantially low, much lower than most average earphones. This translates into a larger margin to crank up the volume before their sound becomes hearable by nearby people.

Sound Isolation

Noise isolation is efficient, noticeably subduing the noise perception of your environment. Expect a performance better than most average earphones and a capability to offer absolute isolation if you set the volume proximate to high levels in your device.

Comfort

The housings of the BlitzWolf BW-BTS1 could look large but they are inline with headphones like the Jaybird X line (Jaybird X3, Jaybird X2) and add them an ideal surface to easily grab and handle them. The rubberized earwings are not too stiff nor to bland, giving them an efficiently secure fit without getting uncomfortable or generating too much pressure on the ears.

Anyone practicing sports can wear them safely during their training sessions without having to worry of pain, discomfort nor earpieces falling from the ears.

Response to Equalization

The response to EQ of the BlitzWolf BW-BTS1 was very welcomed in their highs frequencies which improved their brightness and detail; mids benefited from lower mid-bass bleed and better vocals and bass became punchier and deeper.
