| Balanced Armature | 8 mm Dynamic Driver |
? We are reviewing the BlitzWolf BW-VOX1, a dual driver earphone with a budget-friendly price tag.
The BlitzWolf BW-VOX1 features an hybrid dual driver configuration with 1 balanced armature + 1 dynamic driver, this is an advanced drivers setup that allow them to filter audio ranges to be reproduced by each specialized driver. The balanced armature will be taking care of higher frequencies, while the 8 mm dynamic driver will be responsible of lower frequencies (like mid-bass and sub-bass, for example)
In the past we reviewed the BlitzWolf BW-ES1 and demonstrated an excellent performance, this time we are testing the 2-driver sibling to see how they stack up.
It is a common practice for budget headphones brands (and also some very famous non-budget) to inform and publish frequency response curves of their products that are falsely stated, highly inaccurate or even hand-drawn. BlitzWolf shares the frequency response curve of the BlitzWolf BW-VOX1 in their product’s page and it is a highly accurate one that is truly measured and non-adulterated and which we have confirmed with an almost identical match with our measurements – you can see our measurement curve later in this same review. The honesty of publishing true measurements is something that we are highly respecting and appreciating from BlitzWolf.
The BlitzWolf BW-VOX1 durability feels solid with their metal built housings and nice cables. The housings have a special rubber ring near the back plate that protrudes a bit with a “wing” style, this piece is intended to add a gentle but highly efficient contact-surface that strengthens their firm and secure fit.
The cables hold an inline microphone / remote with a useful 3-button design that includes dedicated Volume Up and Volume Down buttons. The mic/remote section is rubberized and easy to operate and looks exactly the same as the one found in the UiiSii Hi-705.
The BlitzWolf BW-VOX1 is compatible with Android and Apple devices.

Accessories & Packaging
The BlitzWolf BW-VOX1 unboxing results in 3 pair of silicone eartips, a cable/earphone organizing band (with Velcro) and a very nice oval hard carrying case. Everything comes inside a solidly built rectangular black packaging that opens up like a jewelry case.
Bass & Sub Bass
The BlitzWolf BW-VOX1 bass is energetic with punchy mid-bass and deep sub-bass but it is not excessively boosted or boomy. Still, do not expect conservative bass coming from this hybrid headphone but neither fear of lacking a strong and fun bass response. Their bass is capable of fulfilling any bass genre’s needs without issues.
Applying an EQ, their mid-bass gains some punch and their sub-bass gets very noticeably deeper.
During our extreme bass tests the BlitzWolf BW-VOX1 took up to 37.5% of a Fiio E12 portable amplifier with a gigantic increment of punch and depth but without reaching basshead rumble nor impact. Expect something significantly below the Sony MDR-EX650, Pioneer SE-CX8, Senfer 4in1 and Xiaomi Mi In-Ear Headphones Pro.

Mids & Vocals
The BlitzWolf BW-VOX1 mids are warm and smooth with non-exaggerated higher mids and somewhat laid back lower vocals yet do not sound muddy. Higher mids never get harsh nor fatiguing.
With an EQ lower vocals sound more vivid and higher mids crispier but be aware that they are very responsive to EQ so you need to apply subtle dB variations. Vocals and lower mids will highly benefit from EQs applied in the Highs & Treble range – see the section below.
Highs & Treble
The BlitzWolf BW-VOX1 highs sound bright enough and are able to provide some detail; piercing highs and sibilance are not present. The overall highs of the BlitzWolf BW-VOX1 are pleasant and not recessed nor fatigue-forward.
An EQ makes their highs hugely brighter and more detailed. The additional amount of them both is incredible and makes the overall sound signature much more open sounding; also noticeably improving their mids and making vocals clear and alive. Piercing and sibilant peaks still remain under control.
The sound that leaks out of the BlitzWolf BW-VOX1 is substantially subdued, people nearby will hardly hear anything coming out of them during a daily commute.

Noise isolation is quite good, slightly better than many average earphones. A moderate volume can be set and the BlitzWolf BW-VOX1 will provide an effective level of isolation.
The comfort of the BlitzWolf BW-VOX1 is outstanding with their small housings and snug but pain-free fit. The short earpieces make them sit almost flush with the ears making them a capable earphone for under-the-helmet use (if the helmet is not too tight). The fixed rubber earwings add a very efficient secure fit that can withstand any daily activities without issues.

Response to Equalization
The BlitzWolf BW-VOX1 showed an excellent response to the EQs used during our soundtests; highs benefited from an incredible amount of added brightness and detail, mids became clearer and crispier and bass got very deep.
