The BLON BL-01 features a very rugged construction quality with a fully metal build (zinc alloy) and bi-pin connectors.
Inside each earpiece there is a single dynamic driver with a diameter of 10mm and biological fiber diaphragm.
Despite not being a legendary old brand, BLON has been on the market for longer time than most enthusiasts think. The beginnings of BLON as a worthy budget headphone’s brand did struggle during their initial times where some hype-inducing models were released but with, also, many other underachieving ones manufactured.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
The sound of the BLON BL-01 is highly affected when replacing the stock eartips with “normal” eartips and their sealing potential.
This BLON model is equipped with elongated eartips with a bullet-alike design which makes them thinner and deeper, resulting in a looser and a way less sealing fit.
This is not something that is as evident on most other headphones but the BLON BL-01 exhibits an absolute makeover of the sound signature when replacing their stock eartips with eartips that can offer a proper seal.
In fact, the true nature of the BLON BL-01 can be seen in our frequency response graph measurements – which does ABSOLUTELY NOT reflect the sound experience that users will have with the stock elongated eartips if the seal is not appropriate.
Fortunately for BLON (being intentional or not), the stock eartips make the BLON BL-01 drivers sound much cleaner and less-bloated than they truly sound.
In our review, we will concentrate on the performance of the BLON BL-01 with their stock eartips but we will additionally detail the effects with “normal eartips” as well.

Bass & Sub Bass
Stock Oval Eartips
The immediate effect of the stock eartips and their low seal is instantly noticed over the lack of sub-bass depth and mid-bass punch.
Out of the box, the BLON BL-01 bass might be closer to the style of an open-back headphone than to a closed-back (regarding only to fullness and depth); still as we mentioned above, the true nature of the BLON BL-01 is seen when placing eartips able to provide proper seal.
On the other hand, this particular fact about the BLON’s performance can result in lower frequencies that do not suffer from any bloated sound nor overstepping mid and upper bass and might trick some listeners into a pseudo-open headphone bass flavor.
Apart from all the explanation and analysis above, our team found the lower frequencies of the BLON BL-01 (stock eartips) to be less versatile for multi-genre matching but to combine very well with specific genres that shine with little bass presence.

Normal Eartips
Normal eartips effect: when replacing the stock eartips with normal eartips, bass of the BL-01 shows the real personality of their drivers with a punchy mid-bass and sufficient sub-bass depth while keeping their overall lower frequencies well-balanced – for score-addicts, add at least 1.25 point from the stock eartips score.

Mids & Vocals
Stock Oval Eartips
The BLON BL-01 mids offer a clean lower midrange regarding mid-bass bleed congestion but their male vocals can feel relaxed and distant at times.
In comparison with many other budget headphones at this price range, the midrange of the BLON BL-01 sound way more clear and, kind of, more refined and far from an average commercial tuning.
On the other hand, vocals can turn from relaxed to shouty on stronger peaks or when singers (even male singers) respond with higher pitched vocals. As expected, female vocals will be much more prone to this.
Said so, higher mids and female vocals can easily exhibit harshness on many tracks.

Normal Eartips
Normal eartips effect: when replacing the stock eartips with normal eartips, the BLON BL-01 mids will instantly become much more bloated with an absolute increment of both warmth and mid-bass bleed – for score-addicts, the Normal Tips effect offers a different sound flavor but will not modify the stock section’s score.

Highs & Treble
Stock Oval Eartips
The BLON BL-01 highs have a brightish style with no rumbling bass getting in the way nor extending over their highs.
Despite this, the BL-01 does not resolve as much detail as other headphones with this style of highs – yet, the detail retrieval is quite decent for the asking price.
The spikes of the highs and treble of this BLON IEM are usually fairly tolerable regarding sibilance while we noted higher frequency of piercing peaks as well as stronger intensity.

Normal eartips effect: when replacing the stock eartips with normal eartips, the highs and treble of the BLON BL-01 sounded fuller and less disconnected from the sound signature (according to most of our editor’s) without becoming dark – for score-addicts, add at least 0.25 points from the Stock Eartips score.

The fit of the BLON BL-01 could be rated as relaxed and less tight than most earphones.
This, though, does not help too much regarding isolation; indeed, this BLON earphones provide a way less efficient isolation than many average headphones on the market – this could be a positive feature for users who want some awareness of their surroundings.

Comfort
The rugged build of the BLON BL-01, certainly, adds weight to the earpieces and might make some users doubtful about the comfort of this unit.
Instead, due to the rounded form factor and smooth edges, the BLON BL-01 is very comfortable – yet, it is worth noting that the front lower end of the earpieces has a bit more pointy edge that can protrude a bit.
This end section was never an issue when used by our editor’s with average-sized ears but it did present a point of contact to half of our editor’s with smaller-than-average ears.
