? BQEYZ KB1, a triple driver hybrid earphone with a super affordable price.

The BQEYZ KB1 features 1x balanced armature and 2x dynamic drivers (the larger one has a diameter of 10mm while the smaller one is 6mm)

BQEYZ might not be a brand as famous as other budget-conscious Asian ones but they made quite an impact with the BQEYZ K2 when we reviewed it and found out an, unexpectedly, very pleasant and balanced sound and even more with BQEYZ KC2 (recently reviewed by our team)

The precedent experience with the brand is setting high expectations from the team, we hope that the BQEYZ KB1 holds up to the high-standards of the BQEYZ KC2 and the BQEYZ K2.

The BQEYZ KB1 durability feels outstanding thanks to the all-metal construction.

A recent earphone from Monoprice looks precisely like a rebranded BQEYZ KB1, having also similar drivers specs and cables; the model is called Monoprice Trio.

The BQEYZ KB1 unboxing results in 3 pair of eartips, the detachable cable and a cable organizer. The packaging containing the unit is the exact same as the one of the BQEYZ KC2.

Bass & Sub Bass

The BQEYZ KB1 bass is punchy and very deep, their style is tuned for fun listening sessions but neither mid-bass nor sub-bass are over-boosted nor feel exaggerated for bass-intense music genres (considering the bassy profile)

Lower frequencies will never show issues regarding lack of energetic response.

Applying an EQ there is a remarkable deepening of it’s sub-bass and a fair amount of additional mid-bass punch.

During our extreme basshead tests, the BQEYZ KB1 handled up to 35% of a FiiO E12 (new model called FiiO A5) with an exponential increment of punch and depth intensity and even revealing some impact and rumble.

Mids & Vocals

The BQEYZ KB1 mids present a warm personality with fairly noticeable mid-bass bleed but with male vocals that do not sound distant.

Higher mids are crisp but not too forward, resulting in sporadic harshy peaks depending on how intense the track’s higher midrange get.

With an EQ (and if higher mids are left untouched) their lower midrange can be given a cleaner and less congested sound with a great reduction of mid-bass bleed but without getting thin.

Highs & Treble

The BQEYZ KB1 highs offer good enough brightness and some detail, their highs are far from being dark but are neither forward-bright.

Piercing highs are not present while sibilant peaks rarely show up and will only be perceivable under very sibilant-prone songs but will not get too intense.

An EQ makes their more balanced with noticeably better brightness and allowing them to resolve much more detail – fatiguing peaks will not get introduced nor empowered.

Sound Leak

The sound leaking out can be mediumly perceivable when cranking up the volume, still their performance shows leakage levels less noticeable than most average earphones.

Sound Isolation

The sound isolation provided by the BQEYZ KB1 is substantially strong and will get exponential more efficient while dialing up the volume, yet do not expect an absolute isolation unless you go pass a medium-high setting.

Comfort

The housing’s rounded edges give the KB1 a smooth and comfortable fit with no sharp edges. Moreover, their deep insertion and flat back plate result in a flush fit that make them perfectly capable earphones for under the helmet use.

Response to Equalization

The BQEYZ KB1 presented a groundbreaking fine tuning while using a custom EQ, with a cleaner midrange and brighter highs that also were able to resolve much more detail.

Considering the crazy low price for a triple hybrid earphone with detachable cables and metal construction, they are easy to recommend.
