| 5x Balanced Armature |
🎧 We are reviewing the CCA A10, the newest penta-driver earphone from the brand.
The CCA A10 features a 5 drivers per earpiece in an all-balanced armature configuration (meaning that there are no dynamic drivers inside). The specific balanced armature drivers inside the CCA A10 are: 1x 22955, 1x 30095 and 2x 29689. The 22955 BA is responsible for bass, the 30095 for highs and treble and the 2x 29689 for mids.
If you are obsessed with KZ balanced armature models, you will notice that the CCA A10 holds inside KZ BA drivers. These drivers have been previously seen on the (to name a few):
- KZ AS16 – having in common the 29689 & 22955
- KZ ZS10 PRO – having in common the 30095
- KZ ZSN PRO – having in common the 30095
- KZ AS10 – having in common the 22955, 29689 & 30095
- KZ AS06 – having in common the 29689 & 22955
- KZ ZSN – having in common the 30095
- KZ BA10 – having in common the 30095, 29689 & 22955
- KZ ZS6 – having in common the 30095
- KZ ZS10 – having in common the 30095
You can buy the CCA A10 with or without an inline microphone and 1-button remote. Buying the non-mic model will cost marginally less, but if you find useful having an inline remote-mic, the difference in price will be well worthy.
The CCA A10 can be bought in only a single color option, blue.

The unit comes inside a small, rectangular box with a mainly white color and a clean design.
Being the reputation that KZ and CCA has built through out their history, users might expect a beefy and boosted bass out of the CCA A10.
Instead, this model has a greatly balanced bass with a tight and fast response. Nonetheless, their lower frequencies do not sound rolled-off nor thin, offering a superb mid-bass and sub-bass that can compete with way more expensive competitors.
Expect a much more refined and better achieved bass response in comparison to older KZ and CCA models.
If you were looking for a thunderous mid-bass and sub-bass for basshead listening sessions, this is not the model for you, the high score here for the CCA A10 was earned for it’s clean and balanced bass.
Applying an EQ, sub-bass can be heavily boosted when required but we feel that it would be a pity to mess up the beautiful bass of the CCA A10.
Through out our extreme basshead tests, the CCA A10 handled up to 40% of the maximum power coming from a FiiO A5 amp. The results showed a very important addition of both depth and punch; the increment will be evident but do not expect any basshead rumble nor impact out of the CCA A10, remaining even lower than the siblings CCA C16, KZ AS16, CCA C10, KZ ZS10 PRO, KZ ZSN PRO, CCA CA4.

The CCA A10 mids have clean mids and no mid-bass bleed – at all!
Male vocals are gentle but not recessed, which results in a pleasant but not too veiled sound experience. Moreover, higher mids are clear but, can show harsh peaks.
Overall, we found the midrange of the CCA A10 to be well tuned with an acceptably gentle but not dull nor clinical sound.
Users can easily apply an EQ if wanting a bit more spiciness over vocals and less “shyness” on their male vocals.
The CCA A10 highs are bright and open right out of the box without needing any EQ intervention.
In addition to this, the CCA A10 resolves detail without struggling. Seeing the curves below, many may fear of excruciatingly piercing and sibilant peaks; though somewhat true, the CCA A10 does a fair job remaining acceptably fatiguing while providing all the benefits of this tuning (brightness, detail and open soundstage) – when volume is kept at a moderate low level.
Yet, it is worthy noting that this is still an earphone with emphasized upper mids and highs that will not be the best choice for users that are sensitive to treble and harsh peaks.
An EQ can reveal a huge amount of detail, also, significantly opening up their highs – if overdone you can expect more intense fatiguing peaks.
The sound leaking out is substantially lower than average, but the CCA A10 can provide an extremely high output volume. Cranking the volume all the way up, they will become more hearable but you will also be inducing damage to your hearing health and early loss of your hearing capacity.

The sound isolation provided by the CCA A10 is more efficient than most average earphones, partial isolation will be immediately felt.

The CCA A10 has the same dual construction material of the CCA C16, CCA C10, CCA CA4, with a metal back plate and a main resin housing. The resin section is translucent, a metal+translucent resin design that has been recently seen on the:
The rounded edges do not end on sharp parts, therefore lowering the risks of ear fatigue or pain. Something to highlight is that the housings will protrude out of the ears.

The response to EQ of the CCA A10 shown a strong potential to fine-tune their midrange and to add plenty detail and brightness to their highs and treble.
