The EPOMAKER TH80 PRO V2 is a 75% keyboard with 79 keys and a display screen.

Despite being part of the same series as the EPOMAKER TH80-X and EPOMAKER TH80 PRO, this newest EPOMAKER TH80 PRO V2 adopts a new design path with some inherited elements and some that were not.

When looking at the EPOMAKER TH80 PRO vs EPOMAKER TH80 PRO V2, you will see that the newer PRO V2 has a relatively similar layout but has replaced the knob for a display screen.

Instead, when comparing the EPOMAKER TH80-X vs EPOMAKER TH80 PRO V2, you can clearly see strong similarities in the keys design regarding the size of the right shift and separation with the arrow keys but the new PRO V2 does not include a rotary encoder as the older sibling.

Talking specifically about the EPOMAKER TH80 PRO V2, the design shows a nice retro style with a combination of cream shell and main keys with some accents in Bordeaux, grey and blue colors.

On the lower right corner, above the Right Arrow, there is a magnetic-detachable golden-colored plate with a design of a key engraved on it – the plate can be removed whenever wanted.

On the bottom you can find a 2-position adjustable feet, 4 highly rubberized strip feet and a shiny silver plate.

The EPOMAKER TH80 PRO V2 is available in 2 colors:

It is fair to highlight that the color of each model makes the overall looks of the keyboard drastically different, with the black one have a much more modern look and the white one the retro-ish feel.

The EPOMAKER TH80 PRO V2 includes a 1.14 inches display screen placed on the upper right corner of the case.

The screen shows date, clock, battery status and charge status and includes also a Win lock, Caps Lock and connection mode indicator through icons.

Furthermore, the screen accepts full-color custom designs and animated GIFs that can be uploaded/edited through a dedicated software.

A particular detail about this screen is that the panel itself is placed at a lower level than the case and the top cover, which gives it a sort of “submerged” effect.

This lower aligned panel has a minor drawback, as there is a status bottom row of icons on the display that may not be seen when using the keyboard from a lesser top-view position.

This keyboard has a hot-swappable board compatible with 3-pin and 5-pin switches without needing any soldering.

Internally, the EPOMAKER TH80 PRO V2 has been built with a surprising amount and quality of dampening layers that include a gasket-mount design, PCB foam, IXPE switch sheet, HiFi sheet, socket foam, bottom foam and a flex-cut polycarbonate plate.

Due to the use of ABS plastic for the case of the keyboard, with 0.7kg, the EPOMAKER TH80 PRO is way lighter than a metal keyboard and still significantly less weighty than some other plastic keyboards reviewed so far.

The white version of the EPOMAKER TH80 PRO V2 comes with PBT keycaps with Cherry profile (SA for the black one)

The keycaps have a very slightly textured finish that add up to provide better grip and a nice sensation when typing.

The use of dark fonts over cream keycaps gives them excellent contrast to provide a highly easy viewing experience and even sufficient to be lit on darker rooms by the light coming from your monitor. The only critic to the keycaps is that as a personal taste we do not necessarily love the big “ENTER” writing and font.

We have reviewed all 5 switches in the past and we are glad seen that the brand chose 5 excellent switches – the unit that we are reviewing now has the EPOMAKER Wisteria switches, which are one of our favorite.

The EPOMAKER Wisteria offer a gratifying balance between error-free typing, force/weight and low-fatigue usage.

To be highlighted, is the fact that this EPOMAKER model is noticeably lighter than many other 75% keyboards that we have reviewed.

The board has south-facing LEDs with customizable RGB effects and plenty presets that can selected on the fly through shortcuts.

The backlit effect are fairly bright but as the PBT keycaps are not shine-through they will get partially blocked (as expected)

SOUND

The EPOMAKER TH80 PRO V2 exhibited a remarkably thocky sound out of the box and this is not that much of a surprise, seeing all the premium dampening layers inside of it.

You can expect a deep and refined sound on each keypress that can match the sound profile of some premium metal custom keyboards.

The pre-lubed plate-mounted stabilizers and switches did not present any traces of pinging, rattling nor any degrading noises, while also the keyboard never showed signs of resonance nor hollow effects.

As a point of reference, you can expect a similar thock as what is seen on the EPOMAKER EK21 and a similar one to the CIDOO V75 PRO but with a louder pitch if you smash the keys.

SOFTWARE

The EPOMAKER TH80 PRO V2 is VIA programmable, thus users can benefit from the full power and independence of VIA without any installation or background running software to reprogram, edit, etc. the keyboard.

On the other hand, as this is a VIA compatible keyboard, to create and edit a custom design for the display screen, you will need to use a separate software that servers exclusively to edit it – this is called Epomaker Image Custom Tool.
