Fantech MOTION PAD Gaming Mousepads, the newest gaming mousepads from Fantech.

Many users tend to save on the quality of their mousepads but a good mousepad can make the difference between a ruling gaming session and also as a comfort-boosting accessory for work and daily tasks.

Most quality mousepads have absurdly expensive MSRP but the Fantech MOTION PAD are introduced as budget-priced but quality performing mousepads.

The Fantech MOTION PAD are available in 5 different variants that include:

• Fantech MOTION PAD Earth – Tsuchi
• Fantech MOTION PAD Water – Mizu
• Fantech MOTION PAD Fire – Hi
• Fantech MOTION PAD Wind – Kazu
• Fantech MOTION PAD Lightning – Kaminari

Each variant has a specific design with different speed, friction, stopping power and precision specs.

The models that we are reviewing are the Fantech MOTION PAD Earth – Tsuchi and the Fantech MOTION PAD Lightning – Kaminari; which correspond to both extremes of the variants with opposite qualities.

All variants come in a size of 450mmx400mm and in black color but a white naming font is used on the bottom right edge of the pads to identify the model that you have. Also on the top left edge there is a stitched piece with the model identification.

Unfortunately, the motion mouse pads come in a single size option; so, no bigger nor smaller variants are available to choose.

The black-only color might not be as “fun” or creative as some users might have preferred. Also, the black finish is a notorious color for mousepads regarding dust visibility sitting on the surface of the pad.

Each of the mousepads variants that we own have noticeable differences in build and feel with the Earth having a smooth fabric construction and a gentle feel with the skin while the Lightning has a much rougher fabric texture with a gritty feel.

We did find the finish of the Lightning can result in a texture that might be too rough on the wrists after many hours of intensive gaming – mostly for sweaty users, in hot summers or people with more sensitive skin.

From stitching to overall construction, the mousepads feel well constructed with pristine and reinforced stitching and very cushiony and massively thick height of 5mm.

The blue colored anti-slip base provided perfect slip-free use on all the surfaces that we tested the mousepads.

You could think that the different style of pads could be a gimmick with marketing promises but, in real life tests, the difference is highly noticeable and far from a gimmick.

As a summary, the Earth vs Lightning mousepads offered distinct and defined personalities, being the Earth, much slower with stronger resistance and much better micro control while the Lightning provided a way faster speed with minimal resistance and better suited for fast action tasks.

Compared with other Fantech StriikePad mousepads that we have reviewed, the sliding/friction performance got significantly improved; which showed strong signs of optimized key elements such as speed and tracking.

Furthermore, while testing and directly comparing with many other branded mousepads, we immediately found that resistance, kinetic, dynamic and static friction were far superior with both Fantech mousepads than on the competitors.

As a final result, we find the Earth and Lightning to have better uses for different tasks but both became performance boosting allies for either gaming, daily use and/or work and business tasks.
