ACCESSORIES & PACKAGING
4.5/5
The FANTECH TANTO S comes in a simpler packaging than some of the flagship mice from the brand.
Nonetheless, Fantech includes several free addons and accessories, such as:
• Dock/dongle
• PTFE feet
• Grip tapes
• USB-C cable

DESIGN
4.25/5
As we mentioned in the intro of the review, the FANTECH TANTO has different versions, the specific models are:
• FANTECH TANTO E
• FANTECH TANTO
• FANTECH TANTO S
The list above is ordered from lower-tier to top-tier, being their differences some of their internals and technical specifications.

Independently of which variant you choose, all mice from the TANTO series share the exact same case/shell and form factor.
The FANTECH TANTO adopts an ergo, ambidextrous design, being slightly larger than egg-shaped models like the Zaopin Z1 Pro and Fantech Aria series.
The finish of the shell is smooth and textureless but with some sort of anti-slippery coating that does a good job fulfilling its purpose.
The TANTO models ae available in black, white or pink color but the mid-tier TANTO (non-S and non-E) can only be chosen in white color.
Being that all 3 sub-models are identical aesthetically, we can help you to easily recognize which model you are looking at by identifying the color of the encoder and side buttons; which are grey for the TANTO S, black on the TANTO and the TANTO E using matching colors for the side buttons and the case color.
If you flip around the mouse you will find some extra buttons (like DPI) and the connection mode switch.

CONSTRUCTION & BUILD
4.5/5
Even with the top-tier model of the series, the FANTECH TANTO S, the MSRP is below $50 but the internal components and specs can compete with other gaming mice asking more than 4 times the price of the TANTO S.
Beneath the surface, the FANTECH TANTO S sports a PixArt PAW 3395 sensor capable of 26K DPI, speeds of 650 IPS and acceleration of 50G, yet preserving a lightweight core essential nature of just 58 grams (59 grams according to our measurements). It is important to highlight that these correspond only to the TANTO S flagship variant and the lower tier does not share the same sensor nor specs.
Another exclusive, high-performing spec of the TANTO S model is the capability of offering 8000Hz of polling rate; while the TANTO and TANTO E are limited to 1000Hz.
The overall build of the mouse is inline with most other models from FANTECH that we have reviewed, while the TANTO never showed crackling, rattling nor wobbly characteristics.

SWITCHES
4.5/5
This newest gaming mice from the FANTECH comes equipped with Huano Transparent Green Shell White Dot (TGSWD) switches – all the FANTECH TANTO sub-variants have the same switches.
These Huano switches showed excellent durability, feel and reliability for intense gaming and plenty of years of abuse.
Both the switches and encoder were precise and responsive with a click and tactile feedback.
CON
CONNECTIVITY
5/5
Introduced for the first time with the FANTEC TANTO S, the mouse comes bundled for free with a neat dongle that also works as a charging dock (only included with the TANTO S variant)
The dock/dongle has an angled placement for the mouse, holding it place through the charging pins and a magnetically attaching system.
On top of that, the dock is enriched with an RGB strip light that is placed all across the bottom of the case and which can be controlled through a dedicated button found on the dock.

This addon does not only add a handy and fancy feature but it also is the dedicated dongle that allows the TANTO S to communicate wirelessly through a 2.4G connection that reaches 8000Hz of polling rate (the brand calls it StrikeSpeed PRO)
In addition to the 2.4G wireless connection, the TANTO mouse can also work through a Bluetooth connection or use its detachable wired design (USB-C)
S
SOUND
4.5/5
The main clickers of the TANTO have a defined clicky feedback with a semi-high-pitch but not as acute as on other mice and being less disturbing in loudness as well.
The button function of the encoder shares similar characteristics as the main clickers, while the side buttons have a slight-deeper pitch.
All the main, side and secondary clickers/buttons are well balanced sonically, presenting a coherent sound profile.

PERFORMANCE
5/5
A couple of years ago was unimaginable a gaming mouse with 8000Hz of polling rate and nowadays they are still not highly diffused on mainstream brands; or ridiculously pumped in price.
Seeing a well-equipped and spec’d mouse like the FANTECH TANTO S, offering 8K polling rate (and much more) but costing 3 times less than a Logitech or Razer mouse, it is quite remarkable.
During the tests, the responsiveness, quickness and precision of the TANTO S was, as expected, impressive.
Moreover, the pre-assembled mouse feet skates provided ultra-fast and effortless sliding of the mouse for instant reaction to competitive gaming scenarios – making a Logitech G502 or Logitech MX Master 3S feel like a sloth with fever.
The main clickers were a breeze to spam smash with minimal pre-travel while the side button exhibited just a tad more of pre-travel.
B
BATTERY
4/5
Shared across all 3 sub-variants of the FANTECH TANTO mice, the internal battery has a capacity of 300mAh; with a battery runtime above 40 hours on a single charge.
