We are reviewing the HYCHIKA Cordless Mini Circular Saw M0Y-DC2001-115.

Many years ago we reviewed another HYCHIKA Mini Circular Saw but this should not be confused with the older one as the model being reviewed now is a cordless alternative, while the old one was a wired one.

The HYCHIKA Cordless Mini Circular Saw M0Y-DC2001-115 comes ins a fairly large box that might make you think that includes a hard case as the HYCHIKA Impact Wrench, but it does not.

Inside you will find:

Design

This HYCHIKA Cordless Mini Circular Saw has adopted a form factor inline with other mini circular saws (and even a grinder style) and getting farther away from the classic circular saw shape. Some users might prefer this while others might not dig the different shape.

As a positive aspect we could highlight that it benefits from a slimmer body and overall less bulky nature but we did also notice that the new shape lacks some ergonomic and handle sections of a classic circular saw.

Aesthetically, the saw uses the classic 4 color combination from the brand with a green shell with black, red and dark grey accents/parts that result in a good looking tool and as similar as all other Hychika powertools reviewed so far (if this is something that you care about in your power tools)

On the front of the saw you will notice an angle and a depth adjustment section, these can be adjusted from 0 to 50 degrees for bevel cuts and from 0mm to 50mm in depth (depending on the blade used). To set the desired depth/angle, an-engraved arrow sits on these sections to indicate the set angle/depth but unfortunately the brand has not added any highlighting paint over them.

The right front include a dust exhaust port (with adapters included) to plug the saw with any dust-collection system that you might own or even some vacuums from Hychika.

The saw includes a couple of safety elements like a metal guard for the saw with an-auto covering system (spring used) and a dual-trigger design that only unlocks the main trigger if the safety one is also pressed.

Some sidenotes; as you can see from the photos, the unit came with some loose grease and scuffs around the body.

Construction & Build

The tool feels well-built and hefty despite having a shell made mostly of plastic – you can expect similar build quality as other powertools from the brand.

On the other hand, the brand has used more metal than many mainstream brands for sections such as the blade guard; in fact, nearly all the front end of the saw is constructed in metal.

On top of that, the saw includes a built-in laser addon that emits a guide line in a red 750nm laser beam to aid in the creation of a correct cutting path.

Some details worth mentioning, the trigger is not adjustable, the motor is brushed (non-brushless) and there is no brake system for the motor/blade.

Versatility

The HYCHIKA Cordless Mini Circular Saw can become a handy portable tool for DIY work with a better tasks coverage than other saws on the market thanks to the cordless design and the inclusion of 3 different blades for diverse materials.

On the other hand, the HYCHIKA Cordless Mini Circular Saw is not as “Mini” as you might expect, thus resulting in a size and weight not that much smaller/lighter than a full-sized circular saw – if you already own a cordless circular saw, you probably do not need a mini one of these dimensions.

Manageability

A large rubberized section has been added to the grip parts of the saw (black color) to provide a safer handling of the tool with a lower-slippery factor.

On the other hand, the grinder-alike shape and grip of the saw does not include any dedicated handle for a 2nd hand while also the 2-step trigger design makes it a bit awkward to combine with a secure and solid handling + trigger + control of the saw.

Of course, being cordless, it can easily surpass the adaptability on off-site work or positions where running down power cables would be cumbersome.

Performance

The HYCHIKA Cordless Mini Circular Saw comes with 2x 115mm and a 125mm blade; each one is specially designed to cut different type of materials.

One of the 115mm is a 60 teeth HSS blade made for wood and plastic cutting; we tested this blade on thinner woods where we wanted cleaner cuts; the HYCHIKA Cordless Mini Circular Saw responded with good results and no halting on most tested wood cuts.

Another of the 115mm blades is a dedicated one for tile, cement, etc.; we applied this blade for some cut tests over tile with acceptable results but a stronger saw would had been better for the task.

Finally we proceeded to install the 125mm blade for rougher cuts and thicker woods (this is a wood-only blade). During these tests we welcomed the simple use of the depth adjustment but we did found that the motor of the Hychika saw was fairly less performant than all the mainstream branded full-sized circular saws that we own. As a last test, we used the angle feature of the saw to apply some 45 degree rough cutting on wood with the 125mm blade; besides the usual ergonomic “issues”, the saw provided decent cuts.

On every single test cut we utilized the laser guide as it was always a handy and accurate companion to aid on better cutting precision.

For most users, a mini circular saw could come handy as a smaller 2nd circular saw for added manageability, transportability and handling but this is not the case with the HYCHIKA Cordless Mini Circular Saw as it is fairly heavy, less ergonomic and less powerful than a full-sized circular saw – as a matter of fact, the brushed motor inside the HYCHIKA Cordless Mini Circular Saw can reach as much as 3500 rpm.

Due to the non-classic shape, we found ourselves missing the top handle that can be found on classic circular saws which add a more confident grip and control of a saw; nonetheless, the grip/body was long as to fit 2 hands to, still, provide a dual-hand operation.

Despite this, it is worth mentioning that the included battery has a large capacity of 4Ah, which makes it a much better power tool deal than other saws that include a weak 2Ah battery or none at all.

We did find a daily purpose for this saw that could combine with other saws (circular saw, miter saw, reciprocating saw, etc.) that are available at the office; this would be for quick, small wood cuts with low-chipping when using the 60 teeth blade and other multi material small cuts with the added 115mm blade.
