The Minisopuru ME808M 40Gbps M.2 NVMe SSD Enclosure has a dark space grey metallized finish with a look that we could define as modern-industrial.
Throughout the top and side case of the Minisopuru ME808M you will notice several grooves, this does not only gives the enclosure an aesthetic personality but it is also a thermal control element. On the contrary, the bottom case is completely flat.
A tiny green LED light is placed next to the USB-C/Thunderbolt connector of the enclosure (on the front case’s edge), allowing a quick overview of the power and working status of the disk and enclosure.
Overall, the enclosure has an nice design with a very pocketable size.

The Minisopuru ME808M has a full aluminum construction with a generously thick amount of metal.
The enclosure is put together with a main unibody top case and a metal lid on the bottom that uses 4 screws.
Its exact dimensions are 3.96*2.05*0.55inch with a weight of 0.25lb. For the size, the enclosure feels a tiny bit heavy, making you think that there might be a fan or something else inside, but there is not.

The Minisopuru ME808M 40Gbps M.2 NVMe SSD Enclosure has only 1 connector, an USB4 (USB-C)/Thunderbolt 4.
The enclosure uses this single connector for both data transfer and power, as the modern USB4/Thunderbolt 4 ports can provide sufficient power to drive the enclosure and the disk – the enclosure comes bundled with the Thunderbolt 4 cable.
As you might already imagine by now, this enclosure has an M.2 NVME connector for the SSD disk and it is only compatible with these type of disks (max. 2280 size).
To be more precise, the enclosure is compatible with disks such as:
• M Key – NVME/PCIE
• B+M Key – NVME/PCIE

To be able to use the full speed potential of this NVME enclosure, your computer needs to have either an USB 4 (40Gbps) or Thunderbolt 3/4 port, any older port than these is unable to reach 40Gbps.
We proceeded to measure and test the Minisopuru 40Gbps NVME Enclosure with a proper modern Thunderbolt 4 port and a Samsung 980 Pro NVME disk – the enclosure did not need any special drivers nor software to work as it was automatically recognized by the operating system.
Measured with AmorphousDiskMark, the Minisopuru 40Gbps M.2 NVMe SSD Enclosure even surpassed the maximum speeds advertised by the brand’s listing, reaching up to 3129 MB/s.
On an older USB 3.2 Gen 2 port, the adapter had no issues providing the maximum speed offered by this port, which is 1000MB/s or 10Gbps; and in fact, the measurements with an older Kingston NVME reached 1010MB/s.
The enclosure includes thermal pads, which is a nice detail from the brand. Nonetheless, you should wisely choose your NVME to be matched with the enclosure as it has no fans nor active cooling – we recommend to do some research on NVME disk models and stay away from any particularly notorious for having overheating issues.
If you have a computer with only USB 3.2 Gen 2 maxing at 10Gpbs, you will not be able to obtain the 40Gbps of this adapter as the limiting factor will be your computer; if this is your case, you can save a bunch of money and just get their 10Gpbs model, the ME801-10Gbps.
