With such a long cable length we feared to find a tangling mess but the cable was remarkably non-tangled out of the box.

The unit comes inside a large box with:

• 5W solar panel
• 50 metal hooks
• RF remote
• 50 zip ties

• Mounting pieces

DESIGN

The design is quite simple with a 2-cable black-shielded connection separated by 2ft of cables between each bulb-socket – from the solar panel to the first bulb there are 12ft of cabling.

From the cable to sockets and solar case, the brand has used entirely black color as the theme of the unit, being the bulbs 100% transparent and not frosted nor textured.

In total, the string light has a length of 111ft and 50 LED bulbs, which is not the easiest length-amount to found in these kind of products.

Each of the sockets has a plastic hook that allow an easier installation and re-arrangement when wanted. Also, the brand includes 3 installation setup options for the panel to adapt to each user: a screw-fixing to a wall, a ground pole (mostly for gardens) and a bracket to clamp the solar panel to any place that you prefer with a more portable, non-fixed installation.

If you are intending to cover large areas in your garden, balcony, terrace or even, like we did, an internal space of a building, these Quntis LED lights might be a wise purchase choice.

Unfortunately, the brand does not offer a white variant of this string lights, which in our specific case would had been a much more pleasing and harmonic color design to match the building where we installed the lights.

CONSTRUCTION & BUILD

Construction-wise, the product is decent with an all-plastic build that extends from the cable shielding to the external shell of the sockets; also the body of the solar panel, mounting pieces and bulbs themselves are made of plastic.

To their benefit though, the use of plastic for the bulbs makes them more durable than a standard glass one (mostly against impact) and the plastic case of the solar panel makes it lighter than others.

Furthermore, each of the LED lights can be replaced thanks to a standard screw-in socket with a G40 design – these are not the most common E27 lights though.

The solar panel includes inside rechargeable batteries which can be recharged with either the power of the sun or through a dedicated USB port.

This USB port is protected by a rubberized gasket to ensure that it does not leak water inside of it and able to withstand outdoor installation without having to worry about getting damaged; in fact, this LED lights have a waterproof rating of IP44.

The string light has 2 dedicated buttons on the back of the solar panel that serve to turn on the unit after the first installation (also can be used to power on/off manually later on) and mode setting button.

On top of that, the surprised the team with the inclusion of RF remote that gives full wireless control of the light and all the power, brightness and effects.

Even more, the remote was miles better than the typical IR remote by using, instead, radio frequency tech; which resulted in pristine reach and control without needing to point to a IR sensor and able to receive all commands without struggling – even through 1 meter thick walls and more than 10 meters away from the solar panel unit.

This Quntis string lights might seem yet another typical LED product but it hides beneath the surface some features that can make a difference from the competitors.

While testing the lights we were surprised to find that not only the product included the RF remote that we mentioned before but it also provided 4 levels of brightness control and some light effects to choose from. Worth noting that these are single-colored warm-white LEDs so you do not have the option to set the warmth-cold nor you have access to RGB colors.

Among some of the handy options to choose from the Quntis string light can be set to power off after 3rhs, 5hrs or 8hrs.

The solar panel has a rated power of 5W, which might not seem much but the lights and internal batteries are extremely energy efficient and we found no issue getting the batteries fully recharged in a single sunny day and using the lights each night for endless hours without running out of juice.

In theory, the lights have a dedicated “Auto” function which is meant to turn on the lights automatically at night and turn them off, also automatically, once the sun comes up; but, unfortunately, this function never worked properly with our unit as it never turned the lights on automatically and we had to do it manually each time. The Auto function would had been a very nice feature if it actually worked as we thought it was intended to.

We were not expecting the level of brightness and nice night aesthetic final effect that the Quntis lights were able to provide as a soft, cozy lighting setup.
