Bass & Sub Bass

The KZ ZS10 PRO has a deep and punchy bass response but it is not as overwhelming and invasive as with some older KZ models that had a very bass-centered sound signature.

In fact we could say that it’s mid-bass and upper bass cuts off fairly well when it should without getting out of control nor boomy.

In spite of this, the KZ ZS10 PRO is not a conservative sounding earphone nor a thin and anemic one, their lower frequencies will respond when requested fulfilling any bass intensity needed.

Differently to the ZS10, the ZS10 PRO does not suffer from a variation in bass response according to fit and placement – this grants a more stable sound experience among different users.

Applying an EQ, a much deeper sub-bass can be squeezed out and a bit of additional punch will also show up but it’s mid-bass will conserve it’s somewhat dry tint.

Our extreme basshead tests revealed a crazy deep sub-bass with mild rumble (handling 40% of a FiiO A5 amp’s maximum power) but far from competing from the Top Basshead earphones.

Mids & Vocals

The KZ ZS10 PRO have warm vocals and overall midrange. Male vocals are not congested but exhibit a relaxed tuning that can sound laid back at times.

Nonetheless, lower mids and deep vocals sound clear enough on most listening sessions.

Mid-bass bleed is not intense at all nor excessively drowning, balancing well with it’s higher mids and female vocals that show a more emphasized tuning than it’s lower midrange.

Expect a crisp and clear upper mids but able to remain in the fairly harsh-tolerable.

Wit a custom EQ, male vocals and lower mids can be efficiently fine tuned for more “alive” sound and upper-bass can be de-emphasized for a cleaner lower midrange too. An advice: avoid boosting it’s upper midrange or they will become too harsh.

Highs & Treble

The KZ ZS10 PRO highs achieve a pleasant balance that is able to provide a smooth response with no disturbing peaks but, at the same time, not sounding overly dark.

This makes the KZ ZS10 PRO an earphone capable of providing brightness and detail without getting overemphasized, therefore covering a more ample music variety.

Piercing peaks are nearly absent while sibilance might show up at times but with a tolerable intensity.

As a reminder, this is not a “treblehead” earphone but neither a muffled one.

A well-tuned custom EQ can reveal the true potential of the KZ ZS10 PRO driver’s on it’s highs and treble frequencies. A miles brighter and more detailed sound will arise without sounding too hot.

Sound Leak

The sound leaking out of the KZ ZS10 PRO is inline with most normal earphones, resulting in a hearable sound by nearby people but remaining usable under most everyday and normal situations.

Sound Isolation

The sound isolation provided by the KZ ZS10 PRO is noticeably more efficient than many average earphones.

Reaching strong isolation from the environment is fairly easy with the ZS10 PRO.

Comfort

The footprint of the KZ ZS10 PRO is way smaller than the KZ ZS10, KZ AS10, KZ AS06 and inline with the KZ ZSN PRO, KZ ZSN and CCA C10 size, despite the amount of the drivers inside.

The smaller size allows a flusher fit and a more comfortable experience without protruding too much, yet it is fair noting that the KZ ZS10 PRO has a heftier weight that somewhat makes them feel like a more serious earphone and less toyish than older models from the brand, such as the KZ ES4, KZ ZS3, KZ ZSR, KZ ZS4, KZ ZST PRO, KZ ZS5.
