? KZ ZSN, the latest dual driver from KZ, with a very attractive design.

The KZ ZSN features a dual hybrid configuration with 1 dynamic driver and 1 balanced armature.

The dynamic driver has a diameter of 10mm and the balanced armature used in the KZ ZSN is the 30095 – this is the same BA as the KZ ES4, KZ BTE, KZ ZS4, KZ BA10, KZ AS10, etc.

The housings have a metal back plate and a main translucent, colored housing. The combination of these pieces and the design results in a fancy-looking aesthetic.

The cable of the KZ ZSN is the same detachable bi-pin as on every KZ earphone. In particular, the cable of the KZ ZSN has the angled-type of connector and a newly transparent connector end.

Bass & Sub Bass

The KZ ZSN bass is rich and vivacious. Mid-bass is extremely punchy yet not too bouncy nor boomy and sub-bass is very deep.

KZ earphones are never shy-sounding nor relaxed; the KZ ZSN follows the line and sound signature of most KZ earphone with a fun and very full-bodied sound.

Expect a super energetic response that will cover every music genre and even fulfill intense-bass listeners.

Applying an EQ, massive punch and depth can be revealed.

Handled by expert bassheads, the KZ ZSN can be transported into basshead territory, offering a respectable amount of rumble and impact. To do this, we needed to feed them with 45% of the maximum power of a FiiO E12 (FiiO A5) with a custom basshead EQ.

Mids & Vocals

The KZ ZSN mids are warm and full-sounding, some mid-bass bleed is present but does not add excessive congestion to their whole midrange.

Male vocals are not distant nor laid back and female vocals are very clear. Higher mids are crisp and not recessed.

To be honest, the midrange of the KZ ZSN is virtually the same of the KZ ES4.

With an EQ, their midrange can be polished and fine tuned to a cleaner lower and mid midrange and a smoother higher mids response that will also show less harshness

Highs & Treble

The KZ ZSN highs are very bright and resolve a nice amount of detail. These are not rolled-off sounding earphones yet they do not become nor overly fatiguing.

People looking for bright highs will like the KZ ZSN.

Piercing highs might show up from time to time, as expected with this style of tuning but, unexpectedly, they did not show strong nor frequent sibilance.

The highs of the KZ ZSN are already very bright, but with a custom EQ can be pushed for an even brighter response with noticeable results.

This EQ path will also make them much more detailed – expect stronger piercing highs.

Sound Leak

Being an earphone with a very strong output volume and bright highs, they are also partially hearable by nearby people when you crank up the volume very high.

Sound Isolation

The amount of isolation of the KZ ZSN is way above most average earphones with an easy-to-reach absolute isolation by a small increment of the volume of your music listening sessions.

If you are not an owner of this models, expect a very comfortable and tight fit with very improbable discomfort issues.

KZ ZSN Frequency Response Curve

Listening to the KZ ZSN through out our soundtests, it showed a very similar sound to the KZ ES4.

To verify this, we measured and compared both of them and, without surprise, the frequency response curves of both models are nearly identical (with only a higher response over +/- 16kHz)
