The MEIZU POP2 / Meizu TW50s features 6mm graphene drivers, touch controls and an IPX5 waterproof rating.

The MEIZU POP2 / Meizu TW50s is the 2nd generation of the original MEIZU POP TWS – which we reviewed a time ago.

At first sight the POP2 and the POP 1st gen look the same, an indeed, they have identical shells and case design with the exact footprint, dimensions but with the MEIZU POP2 becoming leaner (weight-wise)

Inside each earpiece, the POP2 hold a 55mAh battery, while the case carries a 350mAh Lithium polymer battery.

The MEIZU POP features include advanced options such as:

Operation & Control

The back faceplate of the MEIZU POP2 is touch sensitive, operating as a remote for all the main music listening controls.

The main functions available include:

Right earbud:

• 1x tap: Play/pause
• 2x tap: Next track
• Touch and hold: Volume up
• 3x tap: Voice assistant

Left earbud:

• 1x tap: Play/pause
• 2x tap: Previous track
• Touch and hold: Volume down

Calls Commands:

• A single tap (either left or right earpiece): Answer/hang up call
• Touch and hold for 3 seconds (either left or right earpiece): Reject incoming call

Battery Pack button:

The battery pack hold a rear button that activates the front light of the case, informing the battery charge remaining on the case.

The lights on the case represent:

• 4 lights= over 75% charge
• 3 lights= above 50%
• 2 lights= above 25%
• 1 light= less than 25%

LED Status Light: Besides the 4 front lights on the case of the MEIZU POP2, each earpiece has a ring light around the back faceplate that informs the status of each earphone.

Charging: The earpieces of the MEIZU POP2 get charged by placing them in the battery case. The battery case will charge the earpieces either on-the-go or by connecting the case to an USB charger.

The MEIZU POP 2 can provide up to nearly 8:30 hours of music playback and up to 24 hours of total runtime with the additional on-the-go full charges provided by the case.

Bass & Sub Bass

Right out of the box the MEIZU POP2 / Meizu TW50s show a very punchy and full sound. Their bass tends to be more punchy than deep but it is still not a shallow-sounding earphone.

Sub-bass can reach sufficient depth as to cover most music genres without much shortage and as to remain acceptably not bloated.

Nonetheless, this should be considered by listeners who will be mainly listening to electronic, trance and EDM genres.

With an EQ, their bass personality can be pushed into a much deeper and punchier sound but also a more boomy one.

Mids & Vocals

The MEIZU TW50s / POP 2 have very warm mids with some bleed invading their lower midrange.

On the other hand, their male vocals will benefit from sounding relaxed but not excessively distant.

In addition to this, higher mids are cleaner than their lower mids which makes them crisp, with clear female vocals, yet it does not show frequent harsh peaks.

Listeners should expect a smooth sound with a warm tuning layer.

Using an EQ, their male vocals can be cleared up and any harsh peaks exterminated.

Highs & Treble

The MEIZU POP2 / Meizu TW50s have pleasant highs with a non-fatiguing tuning that sounds acceptably balanced without becoming too dark.

For an earphone with a smooth and less forward highs personality, they resolve quite a good amount of detail.

The peaks of the POP2 do not nearly show any piercing nor sibilant spikes, which will be good news for treble sensitive listeners.

An EQ can reveal plenty detail and a much more spicier, brighter and open sound without drastic empowering of their fatiguing peaks.

Sound Leak

The sound leaking out of the MEIZU POP 2 is somewhat lower than on most average earphones.

This does not make it a totally silent TWS but neither one that could present any issues while using it during daily commuting.

Sound Isolation

The sound isolation provided by the MEIZU POP2 / Meizu TW50s is fairly stronger than many normal earphones, allowing them to offer immediate partial isolation.

Moreover, users willing to crank up the volume significantly will be welcomed by an almost-absolute isolation from the environment.

Comfort
