? REMAX TWS-6, an ultra-affordable true wireless headphone with touch controls.

The REMAX TWS-6 features fairly large 10mm dynamic drivers and touch sensitive back housings.

Most people might be aware of the recent launch of the new Apple AirPods Pro true wireless model which has a much shorter and smaller size than their previous model. Well, the REMAX TWS-6 have been on the market for a while now, launched way before the Apple AirPods Pro and has already being offering this kind of shorter and smaller form factor.

Inside each earpiece, the REMAX TWS-6 carry 50mAh batteries that can provide 3 hours of music listening while the battery pack/charging case has a 380mAh battery to charge OTG 3 additional times both earpieces.

In the past we have reviewed several REMAX earphones that were popular among listeners with a tight budget, this time we will see how this TWS alternative from the brand stands out in a very crowded market.

Construction Quality and Build

The REMAX TWS-6 is rubberized from the whole earpieces up to the case itself and has a matte-dark blue finish, that overall makes it look very nice.

Different to the market tendency on TWS earphones, the REMAX TWS-6 has a pressure closing case and not a magnetic one.

Bass & Sub Bass

Bass on the REMAX TWS-6 is punchy and fun with a full bass response able to cover most genres without issues.

Despite the affordable price, users should not expect the over-boosted type of tuning that most ultra-budget friendly earphones have. The REMAX TWS-6 has a much cleaner and better balanced bass tuning than many wired and wireless ultra-affordable earphones.

This makes it a better adapted true wireless headphone to cover a wider range of music genres and a showing a less-congesting bass.

Still worth to note, sub-bass can get sufficiently deep but will not offer the best-adapted tuning for sub-bass centered tracks.

With an EQ, their bass can be boosted a bit but without any extreme retuning.

Mids & Vocals

The REMAX TWS-6 mids are very warm and cozy with laid back and somewhat distant male vocals.

Mid-bass bleed will be acceptably under control when tracks are not upper and mid-bass heavy but will become much more invasive when songs show stronger notes in these ranges. As a result, tracks can sound cleaner or more congested depending on their mid and upper-bass.

On the other hand, their higher mids are much more emphasized than their lower midrange which will make them crisp but also introducing harshness with strong female peaks and upper mids notes.

If carefully approached, a custom EQ can help to bring forward their male vocals and reduce some of the congestion while not feeding their harshness; if overdone, their vocals will start to become a bit boxy.

Highs & Treble

The REMAX TWS-6 highs offer a bright personality with marginal detail.

Listeners looking for a brighter true wireless headphone might find themselves better with the REMAX TWS-6 than with many other affordable options on the market.

On the other hand, their brighter tuning will make them show sibilance and some piercing peaks.

An EQ can reveal a much more detailed sound and some additional brightness but users will need to accept slightly more fatiguing peaks.

Sound Leak

The sound leaking out of the REMAX TWS-6 is somewhat inline with many normal headphones with a marginally less audible level of leakage while listening to music at moderate levels.

Sound Isolation

The sound isolation provided by the REMAX TWS-6 is fairly stronger than most average earphones with immediate partial isolation.

Nonetheless, users should expect some awareness of the environment and not an extremely strong isolation.

Comfort

The back section of the earpieces, with their sharper form might make users wonder about their comfort and fit; instead, the REMAX TWS-6 are remarkably comfortable to wear for long time.

This is in part due to their smaller size than most true wireless headphones on the market and also because the actual part that sit in the ears is a smaller and rounded section that is in between the bigger back and the nozzles.

In addition to this, the hooks add-ons are flexible and have a silicone-like feel, adapting perfectly to any ear’s size and providing a tight and secure fit to withstand any daily activities.

Response to Equalization

The response to EQ of the REMAX TWS-6 showed some retuning potential over some sections of their midrange and highs but did not provide as strong results over their mid-bass and sub-bass.
