? RevoNext RN-QT2, also known as RevoNext QT2; an hybrid IEM with a premium configuration.

The RevoNext RN-QT2 features triple drivers with 2 dynamic drivers and 1 balanced armature per earpiece. Their triple driver configuration is approached differently than KZ has done with the KZ ZSR and KZ ED16 (where the balanced armature:dynamic driver relation is 2:1) but similar to Xiaomi’s triple driver headphones like the Xiaomi Mi Pro HD and the newest TRN V60 triple driver (both with a 1:2 BA:DD relation). RevoNext details that their drivers configuration is tuned/filtered to offer one dedicated driver for sub-bass, the balanced armature for mids and highs and the remaining dynamic driver for mid and upper bass.

The RevoNext RN-QT2 is also found as RevoNext QT2 but truly their full model name disclosed by the manufacturer is RevoNext RN-QT2; you might also find it as Yinyoo Revonext QT2.

The RevoNext RN-QT2 durability feels excellent thanks to their all-metal construction. The housings have the same metal and rugged build as the KZ ZS6, in fact as you might have noticed their aesthetics resemble quite a bit to the KZ ZS6. Despite the resemblance with KZ’s quad-driver, the RevoNext RN-QT2 has a slightly different shape and has 2 diversely shaped rear grids instead of the 3 linear grids of the ZS6.

The size of the RevoNext RN-QT2 is slightly thinner and smaller overall, not a night and day difference. To be more specific, their width and height are nearly identical but their depth differs by 2.3 mm.

The cables of the RevoNext RN-QT2 are detachable and have a bi-pin 0.75mm connector with a straight end (same as the KZ ZS3, KZ ZS5 and KZ ZS6); the cable fit firmly and securely and does not wobble as the KZ ZS6 does. The cables are rounded and have a highly rubberized finish to reduce tangling issues.

The RevoNext RN-QT2 is compatible with Android and Apple devices.

Accessories & Packaging

The RevoNext RN-QT2 unboxing results in 3 pair of eartips, a cable organizer and the detachable bi-pin cable. The packaging style and looks are inline with many recent KZ earphones and Xiaomi earphones but the units of the RevoNext QT2 come placed in a protective foam.

Bass & Sub Bass

The RevoNext RN-QT2 bass is crazy powerful with super punchy mid-bass and very profound sub-bass.

The strength of the RevoNext QT2’s bass could make you wonder if their bass is boomy, savage and all-over the place. Despite their confident bass response, their lower frequencies do not bleed uncontrollably nor muffle out the whole signature; they remain where they belong.

Seems that the independent dynamic drivers for sub-bass and mid-bass do their job impeccably.

As an important note, there is a small vent-hole near on the inner housing section near the nozzles, depending on how much your ears cover this vent hole will drastically modify the intensity of their bass. See the RevoNext QT2 frequency response curves at the end of this review to have an insight of the effect.

Applying an EQ, punch and depth got even punchier and deeper with a highly noticeable increment and still they did not “eat up” the rest of of audio frequencies.

During our extreme bass tests the RevoNext RN-QT2 took up to 37.5% of a Fiio E12 maximum power while set to high gain, bass boost on and using an advanced custom basshead EQ. As a result of the tests the RN-QT2 became insanely deep and punchy reaching even some basshead rumble and impact that is above the level of the KZ ATE, Xiaomi Mi Pro HD or the but still below the Sony MDR-EX650AP, Sony MDR-7550, Elecom EHP-CA3580, Xiaomi Mi In-Ear Headphones Pro, Senfer 4in1, Pioneer SE-CX8, Pioneer SE-CX7, Monster Beats iBeats, BlitzWolf BW-ES1 and Aukey EP-C3.

Mids & Vocals

The RevoNext RN-QT2 mids have warm and full-bodied sound but not congested or muffled. In fact, their lower vocals sound very clear and alive with no laid back or distant feel to them. Higher mids are not recessed nor forward and offer good crispness without getting harsh.

With an EQ any traces of mid-bass bleed are fully erased making lower mids and male vocals even clearer. You can boost higher mids if wanted but we do not recommend it, they are crisp and clear enough already and you might introduce harshness.

Highs & Treble

The RevoNext RN-QT2 highs are bright and detailed. Piercing highs do not show up but sibilance is sporadically present (depending on the sibilant peaks of each track). Their overall highs are very well resolved with a great balance of brightness and non-fatiguing sound.

Usually headphones tuned for bright and detailed highs introduce frequent piercing peaks and, otherwise, if tuned for non-fatiguing highs they risk to easily become darkish or muddy overall. The RevoNext QT2 provides a very difficult-to-achieve balance for highs & treble ranges without sacrificing brightness but not becoming fatiguing.

An EQ reveals an insane amount of extra detail and introduces a huge quantity of brightness with an overall more open sound. If you have fair experience handling custom equalization, you can fine tune their highs EQ to provide the results mentioned and without increasing piercing nor sibilant peaks. To reach this improvement on the RevoNext QT2 you should feed the ranges from 7 kHz onward, leaving anything below 7 kHz untouched.

Sound Leak

The sound that leaks out of the QT2 is as hearable as most average earphones, they are not totally silent but will neither disturb nearby people on normally noisy city situations.

Sound Isolation

The deep fit helps to their level of isolation but their rear open grids allow some noise to come in resulting in a fair level of isolation with a subdued perception of your surroundings but will not offer a total isolation unless you crank up the volume. This is not necessarily a bad thing, if you are looking for some awareness of your surroundings these earphones could match your preferences.

Nonetheless, their isolation is noticeable and even better than many average earphones.

Comfort

Having almost the same housings of the KZ ZS6 and also sharing their metal construction, the RevoNext QT2 offer practically the same level of comfort and fit – if you already own a KZ ZS6 you know what to expect.

Their fit is secure and deep but not invading. The housings place easily and comfortably without having pointy or rough edges. To be considered is their metal construction, as with every metal earphone they will catch the environments temperature, therefore if you are planning to use them during the winter season in the Baltics states, Alaska, Siberia, Patagonia or want to carry them with you to your next tour to an Eskimo neighborhood, you should be aware of this.

Response to Equalization

The RevoNext RN-QT2 are very responsive to EQ, you will able to fine tune it, boost or tame down mostly any frequency to your liking. With our custom EQs the RevoNext QT2 were able to provide super clear vocals and mids with no mid-bass bleed, extra bright and detailed highs without empowering fatiguing peaks and highly punchier and deeper bass without becoming boomy nor invasive.
