SoundPEATS Air4, the freshest 2023 TWS earbud from SOUNDPEATS.

The SoundPEATS Air4, as the name suggests is the 4th generation of the Air series, which make use of an earbud design instead of an in-ear design.

Inside each earpiece there is a large 13mm dynamic driver, 6 ENC mic for phone calls and Active Noise Cancelling with adaptive hybrid tech.

On top of that, the earbuds are able to pair to 2 devices and quickly switch between them.

With it’s modern Bluetooth v5.3, the Air4 are rated at 6.5 hours of battery life per charge and up to 26 hours with the OTG charges offered by the case.

The SoundPEATS Air4 is available either in black or white color.

Bass & Sub Bass

Considering the bass-heavy tendency of SoundPEATS earphones and earbuds, the SoundPEATS Air4 show an unexpectedly balanced bass right out of the box.

Unlike older models, the Air4 will not show bounciness over mid-bass nor a loose lower-frequency tuning as to “eat up” the whole sound of the earbud.

Nonetheless, this TWS is able to offer good punch and sufficient sub-bass depth as to become a much more versatile earbud than previous generations.

If you are an all-time SoundPEATS fan, do not expect the same boosted bass nor the same degree of intensity but a more even and balanced one.

Mids & Vocals

Despite belonging to the same series as the Air3, the new SoundPEATS Air4 have a totally retuned sound signature with a highly clean midrange and no congestion coming from mid-bass bleeding into it.

Male vocals and lower mids will not sound recessed nor laid back but the overall midrange will be less profound and not as warm as on previous generations.

Highs and female vocals present a clear sound as they do not have to compete with any bloated bass.

In spite of this, the earbud does not suffer from excessive harshness (if you do not crank the volume way up)

The SoundPEATS Air4 are certainly a different sounding Air model that will fit listeners looking for less congestion and a cleaner midrange.

Highs & Treble

As with their midrange, highs on the SoundPEATS Air4 also show an opposite tuning tendency than the previous models.

This time, the brand has opted for a way brighter and more open sound, they will not be able to compete with the detail retrieval of an audiophile in-ear headphone but their overall highs and treble response will make happy SoundPEATS fans that look for a much less busy sound.

On the other hand, this TWS does show sibilance and some piercing peaks.

Sound Isolation

Despite having an earbud design, this TWS comes packed with Active Noise Cancelling.

Throughout our tests, the Air4 ANC performed fairly well cancelling the sound of constant noises such as fans but did struggle a bit more than other ANC earphones to cancel more spiky noises such as a door being knocked or the typing noises of a keyboard.

Comfort

The earbud shape with rounded edges is a preference of some users that do not tolerate the in-ear fit; the Air4 ticks the features of an earbud yet the lack of any rubberized sections and having a slippery plastic finish might make them prone to fall off the ears if you are intending to do some more intensive activities than being on your desk or walking around at a calm pace.

A welcomed feature is the IPX4 waterproof design to allow owners of the Air4 to use it with less worries of getting damaged.
