Bass & Sub Bass

Without doubt and immediately noticeable, the SoundPeats Air5 Pro are bass-centered earphones with massive bass.

Mid-bass exhibited a highly punchy response with a basshead-styled rumble and filling power that can make fun any party and bassy genres and tracks.

Similar to their mid-range, the extension and coverage over sub-bass is excellent with deep bass notes never sounding empty nor muted and adding yet another layer of basshead personality and thunderous sub-bass.

Of course, as you should know (or in case that you do not know it), a headphone with all these characteristics means that its bass is not balanced nor refined and will be lose, over-stepping the rest of the frequencies and stepping in with a overruling bassy sound signature.

Mids & Vocals

The powerful bass can be felt over the midrange adding a very warm tint over them.

This can benefit the body of male vocals and lower midrange notes but it can risk to introduce recurrent mid-bass bleed and congestion over the lower mids when tracks are bass-centered.

Upper mids, on the other hand, show a nearly forward tuning with very bright and sharp flavor and separating from the lower “congestion”

At the same time, female vocals can become more present and prominent than deep-pitched vocals and become shouty and harsh at times.

Highs & Treble

Despite the ruling bass, highs are able to show not only their presence but also even compete with the strong bass by showing the same tendency as the upper mids: a forward tuning.

These allows highs and treble to cut through the bassy tint but easily become fatiguing, piercing and sometimes sibilant.

Sound Isolation

If looking solely at the passive isolation of the SoundPeats Air5 Pro, we could say that they are far from dethroning the top-charts in our tested closed-back headphones.

In spite of this, everything is drastically changed once you activate the Active Noise Cancelling feature of the Air5 Pro. Immediately after turning on ANC, the Air5 Pro exhibit a massive top-class noise reduction and efficient reduction of noises surrounding you.

Moreover, the earphone had superb handling of wind and no inclusion of weird sound artifacts nor the typical vacuum effect.

On top of that, this SoundPeats earphones include also a passthrough mode and 3 different types of ANC modes (indoor, outdoor, adaptive) that can be fine-tuned through the mobile app – all these modes can be used even without pairing the earphones to any source.

Comfort

The Air5 Pro inherit a well-proven form factor and shapes that have been granting excellent fit and comfort by many of the previous gen of the series.

These include rounded shapes, nor pointy edges and an angled design that make them fit securely and comfortably inside the ear canal.
