? TRN M10, a super affordable and small-sized newer earphone from TRN.
The TRN M10 features a dual driver hybrid configuration with one balanced armature driver and 1 dynamic driver per side.
If you are curious about the specs of these drivers, the BA is a 30095 models and the DD has a diameter of 8mm.
Nearly all super-affordable ChiFi earphone brands used to love making their products with the bullet-alike form factor but has been quite abandoned in the past 2 to 3 years and replaced with a custom-IEM styled shape.
The TRN M10 brings back the bullet design but with detachable cables, which could be good news to users who always loved this small and proven comfortable design.
The earpieces are constructed in metal but are extremely light weighted, even lighter than many earphones that are made of plastic.
The TRN M10 can be purchased in 3 colors: blue, silver or black.
Furthermore, buyers will be able to choose each color with or without an inline remote/mic.

Accessories & Packaging
The TRN M10 comes packed with 3 pair of eartips and a detachable bi-pin cable.
The packaging itself is a small rectangular cardboard box, as seen on most recent super affordable Asian earphones.
The cables has a braided design and a bit thin and stiffer than many better bundled cables – expect to receive a cable similar to most KZ, KBEAR and other TRN earphones.

Bass & Sub Bass
The TRN M10 has a very atypical bass out of the box, with a conservative mid-bass tuning and a very rolled-off sub-bass. Usually, these would be bass characteristics that tend to be seen on full-sized open-back headphones.
Despite this, their lower frequencies do not sound absolutely shallow nor fully absent of body. Truly, it was kind of a shock seeing this sound signature from an entry-level affordable commercial earphone.
On a normal scenario, we would think that our TRN M10 has arrived defective with it’s dynamic driver not responding as it should or even fully dead.
It is strange believing that the brand really aimed to this bass tuning but we cannot know the real intentions of the brand.
Said so, read the rest of the review taking into account the possibility of being based on a defective unit.
With an EQ, some punchiness can be introduced but there will no chances of adding depth to their sub-bass.

Mids & Vocals
The TRN M10 offers a greatly clear lower midrange and no mid-bass bleed that results in clean male vocals that are never distant nor congested.
Higher mids, also benefit of this no-bass invading tuning sounding crisp and clear with a spicy layer over their female vocals, yet without getting harsh.
Nonetheless, their midrange can result in a bit weird sound from time to time due to this bass-lacking response.
A custom EQ can help to make their midrange a bit fuller and warmer, yet do not expect any drastic effects.

Highs & Treble
The highs on the TRN M10 are very bright with a sufficient retrieval of detail, yet is worth noting that the real detail resolved is not as much as might seem due to the very bright profile and falls behind when evaluating fine-detail.
Unfortunately, as it happens with many earphones with these highs and treble tuning, fatiguing peaks are very frequent and can easily become too hot, sibilant and piercing – treble-sensitive people should look elsewhere.
Certainly, an EQ should not be applied to boost their highs and treble but users can try to smooth out their hot peaks with a custom EQ.
On our tests, we were able to slightly reduce the intensity of their fatiguing peaks but they were, nonetheless, always present.

Sound Leak
The sound leaking out of the TRN M10 is noticeably stronger than most normal earphones; not as much as an open-back headphone but, certainly, stronger than most average closed-back models.
Nonetheless, while keeping volume within a standard level or on busier city situations, their leakage will not disturb nearby people.

Sound Isolation
The sound isolation provided by the TRN M10 is a bit stronger than on many average headphones.
These will not win any awards for their isolation capabilities but will be able to offer partial isolation from the environment without struggling.

Comfort
With tiny earpieces and a classic form factor with vastly proven comfortable fit, the TRN M10 can be worn for endless hours without feeling any pain nor discomfort.
Combined with it’s feather-like weight and possibility to change the cables, the TRN M10 results in a very comfortable earphone to use and carry around.

EQ
Response to Equalization
As we mentioned several times already, we are unsure if we have a faulty unit or if the real sound signature of the TRN M10 is what we saw. But, with the unit that we had the starting point across the whole audio spectrum had way too many flaws to try to compensate them through a custom EQ.
Nonetheless, with dedication and effort some experienced users might obtain some improvement with an advanced custom EQ.
