We are reviewing the Tronsmart Mirtune S100, the newest small-midsized Bluetooth speaker by Tronsmart.
The Tronsmart Mirtune S100 is joining the new series of Mirtune speakers from the brand along the Mirtune H1 as a bigger and stronger speaker offering.
In the past we have reviewed most current models of wireless speakers from Tronsmart and many of them proved to offer a remarkable value for money – including the Tronsmart Bang Max, Tronsmart Bang SE, Tronsmart Bang classic, Tronsmart T7, Tronsmart T7 Lite and Tronsmart Trip.

Design
The Tronsmart Mirtune S100 has a clean design with an all-black color theme and a fabric cover (similar to most other Tronsmart speakers that we have reviewed)
New to the Tronsmart Mirtune S100 is a much better button design with a lighter grey color and protruding shapes that make them easier to see, find and recognize – even in dark rooms/environments; this was a design element lacking on many older speakers from the brand.
Sitting between the 6 physical buttons, there is a multi-LED light indicator strip that informs the battery, charging status and also other info like connection, pairing, etc.
Further LEDs can be seen as ring lights around the passive woofers with adjustable color presets and dynamic effects (if wanted and to enhance the battery runtimes, users can also turn off these lights)
Another special design addition to the Mirtune S100 is a retractable handle that can be fully opened or hidden as it is made of soft, malleable silicone material.
Size-wise, the Tronsmart Mirtune S100 is neither as big as any of the Tronsmart Bang speakers nor as small as the Tronsmart T7 series but it inherits the form factor of the Bang models with a tube-alike shape intended to sit horizontally.
It could be said that the Tronsmart Mirtune S100 enters the market as direct competitor of mainstream speakers like the JBL Charge series and also the JBL Flip models, yet with a more affordable price than both speakers.

Construction Quality and Build
The unit holds inside a triple driver configuration with one active woofer for bass and lower ranges and 2 tweeters for mid and high frequencies.
In addition to the internal speaker units, each of the side extremes of the speaker holds a passive bass woofer that helps enhancing and deepening the lower frequencies.
Externally, the speaker has a shell combining plastic and fabric, with the main surface covered with the black fabric and plastic being used underneath this fabric and on the upper and edge sections of the case.
On the rear bottom, the speaker hides beneath a waterproof gasket, all the input and output connectors to ensure that it withstands everyday abuse and reaching an IPX7 waterproof rating.
Thanks to a large internal battery the speaker can not only reach up to 20 hours of playback time but also adds a powerbank function to charge your USB devices when plugged to the Mirtune S100.
On hand, the Mirtune S100 feels well built with a good balance between ruggedness and light, transportable weight-size.

Sound
Out of the box, the Tronsmart Mirtune S100 showcases massive bass for its small-mid size. As a matter of fact, the speakers shows such a strong mid-bass punch that if you have it sitting on a desktop, you will feel the bass shaking your desk.
In addition to this, the Mirtune S100 surprised the team with a remarkable bass extension way more efficient than most small, mid and mid-large Bluetooth speakers; exhibiting a capable reproduction of sub-bass notes instead of responding with empty notes when sub-bass ranges are requested (most other BT speakers give empty notes on sub-bass)
Moreover, the Tronsmart Mirtune S100 presents a very warm sound with full midrange and deep pitched vocals but might show some bleeding by the strong mid-bass presence. In spite of this, the midrange shows sufficient clarity for a vast range of genres without being overly congested.
Highs show a similar tuning as the rest of the spectrum, with a bassy profile warming up their profile yet providing enough brightness as to fulfill the needs of music listening for pumping and fun sessions.
If you are concerned about harsh midrange and fatiguing, piercing highs; the Mirtune S100 will never show any of them at all.
An important detail to be aware of is that the speaker has a very directional sound and not 360 surround acoustic design; therefore, you need to pay attention to aim as straight as possible the front of the speaker to you to get the best sound experience out of it.
Overall, we can safely say that out of the box, the Tronsmart Mirtune S100 has clearly a tuning and sound signature aimed towards party and fun, bass music sessions with crazy power output and intense deep bass response.
In spite of this, as soon as you activate SoundPulse, the speaker presents a total makeover of its sound signature with a less bloated bass yet full enough, while mids and highs offer a miles cleaner, clear and way more defined, less congested sound – the difference with and without SoundPulse is so noticeable that you could easily think that you are hearing 2 different speakers if you did a blind test.

C
Connectivity
The Tronsmart Mirtune S100 has inherited the connectivity versatility of the top-tier and flagship speakers from the brand, offering a large amount and variety of I/O connections:
• MicroSD card reader
• 3.5mm stereo port for wired use
• USB-A for output powerbank use or for local Udisk playback
• Wireless Bluetooth 5.3
On top of that, pairing the speaker was nearly instant without hassles and no hiccups nor sudden disconnections were ever exhibited.

EQ
Response to Equalization
The speaker is compatible with the mobile app from Tronsmart allowing some customizations that range from the LED light effects and also allows the access of EQ presets from the brand that include 6 options (SoundPulse and custom EQ too)
Each of the EQ presets presented significant sound retuning and mostly the SoundPulse option and a fine-tailored custom EQ through the 5-band EQ.
