Tronsmart has been releasing some excellent bang for buck speakers that do not sacrifice sound quality to achieve a more friendly price.

In fact, all the latest speakers from the brand that we have reviewed have proved to offer much better clarity and overall sound quality than their mainstream direct competitors.

Said so, we hope that the extremely cheap-priced Tronsmart Trip conserves this bang for buck ratio.

In fact, the Trip speaker might have a crazy affordable price but is far from lacking specs and features as other similarly priced speakers.

For example, this Tronsmart speaker has a whopping battery life of 20 hours, a waterproof build, modern Bluetooth 5.3, TWS capability and 2 active drivers plus a passive bass radiator.

Nowadays, Bluetooth speakers are not bundled with a plethora of accessories. In fact, the Tronsmart Trip comes bundled with only a USB charging cable and a 3.5mm audio cable.

Design

The Tronsmart Trip has a rectangular form factor with an elongated but thin body.

The unit has a fabric cover and finish that can seen on all the surface of the speaker (only the right and left ends are not covered by this fabric/mess)

The speaker stands on 2 rubberized feet that have a very nice anti-slippery finish and better quality than the ones seen on the Tronsmart Bang.

Unlike the Tronsmart T7, the Trip does not have RGB lights but is equipped with a nicer fabric lanyard, fixed to the left edge of the speaker.

Construction Quality and Build

The Tronsmart Trip has certainly a very cheap price but the brand has not cheaped out on the build and feel of the speaker.

The mesh/fabric feels indistinguishably inline with all mainstream speakers using this kind of finish, while details such as feet, dust covers, buttons and lanyard feel rock solid and durable.

In addition to this, the Trip offers a very high waterproof rating to ensure a safe use on tougher conditions – the specific waterproof rating is IPX7.

Operation & Control

The top of the speaker holds 5 physical buttons that are easily felt by touch and can be instantly recognized even without looking at them.

The buttons found are: Power, Bluetooth, Volume Down, Play-Pause, Volume Up.

On the right edge, users will find the USB and 3.5mm connectors – both connectors are placed under a protective rubber cover-gasket that allows the speaker to reach it´s IPX7 waterproof rating.ile device.

Battery Life

The Tronsmart Trip carries an internal 2000mAh battery that can be charged in 3 hours using a 5V 800mA charger, through the USB-C connector.

A full charge can grant up to 20 hours of continuous music playback time when using the at 50% volume – quite a groundbreaking battery runtime considering the size and weight of this small speaker.

Sound

The dual drivers plus the passive bass radiator of the Tronsmart Trip do an excellent job providing a way cleaner sound that other similarly sized speakers.

Most consumer speakers with this format and entry price tend to sound completely bass boosted and saturated where you can only hear a boomy and excessively dominating bass presence. Instead, the Tronsmart Trip does a phenomenal job offering a balanced and clear sound that is not bloated on any range – something that we have also noticed on while reviewing the Tronsmart Bang speaker.

Said so it is important to highlight to buyers looking for a bass-centered speaker that this will not be the best for this because this is a speaker with a more balanced and clear sound signature – yet, providing a warm and inviting sound.

Highs might not sound as clean as their midrange but still fall within a pleasant balance that can offer acceptable brightness to keep sound away from muddiness and excess of congestion while providing a completely smooth and fatigue-free sound.

Moreover, the speaker can reach 10W of output to fill small rooms or sufficient to be used on the pool or beach with few friends.

When using the speaker with the Tronsmart app, you will have access to EQ presets, sound customization and full use of their SoundPulse tech.
