? UiiSii BA-T8S, a triple driver earphone with an hybrid configuration of 2 dynamic drivers and 1 balanced armature.

The UiiSii BA-T8S are part of the flagship models in their catalog and are belong to the BA-T line next to the UiiSii BA-T6, UiiSii BA-T7 (UiiSii DT100), UiiSii BA-T8 (also known as UiiSii DT200) and the announced but yet not released UiiSii BA-T9.

Before anything else, it is very important to explain two possibly confusing aspects related to this earphone. Firstly, the UiiSii BA-T8S has an identically-looking brother called UiiSii BA-T8 (notice the missing “S” after the “T8”), these 2 models have a huge difference; the BA-T8 is a double dynamic driver earphone while the BA-T8S is an hybrid earphone that has 3 drivers, including a balanced armature (the BA-T8S is the model that we are reviewing in this article). The second aspect to highlight is that the UiiSii BA-T8S is usually found as UiiSii T8S but both are the same model it is just that sellers do not write it’s full model name.

In the past we have reviewed many UiiSii earphones and almost every model offered a superb bang for buck deal and excellent performance (for example see the UiiSii HM7, UiiSii C200, UiiSii Hi-705 or UiiSii C100). It could be said that UiiSii is a brand with products that offer a value for money relation in the league of KZ earphones or Xiaomi earphones.

The housings of the UiiSii BA-T8S have a special form factor which is stretched in height, the construction material is mainly plastics with an additional rubberized “wing” that protrudes out on one side of the earpiece. This “wing” is placed there to reinforce the tightness of their fit. On the rear section of the housings you will see 2 golden rings with a black grid inside, this could suggest a sort of open-back design or it could just be an aesthetic detail like we saw during the reviews of the KZ EDR2 or KZ ED9, to name a few.

The cable is rounded and rubberized to reduce tangling issues; on the right earpiece’s cable you will find an inline mic/remote with 3 buttons (with dedicated volume buttons). The 3.5 mm plug has an almost 45 degree angle, that many highly appreciate.

The UiiSii BA-T8S is fully compatible with Android and Apple devices that have a headphone jack.

The UiiSii BA-T8S unboxing results in 6 pair of eartips, a branded cable tightener/organizer and a nicely built hard carrying case. The earphone comes inside a large and well-constructed packaging that gives them a premium feel.

Bass & Sub Bass

The UiiSii BA-T8S bass sounds energetic but with a remarkably clear and balanced response. Their mid-bass provides the precise quantity of punch but it is not boosted and their sub-bass gets as deep as needed to fulfill any track’s requirement. The bass style of the T8S sits on the “balanced and well resolved” team instead of the “bass-centered” or “basshead” teams.

Applying an EQ, their mid-bass provides some extra punch but not excessively, it is sub-bass which shows the strongest empowering becoming much deeper.

During our extreme bass tests the UiiSii BA-T8S handled up to 40% of the maximum power fed by a Fiio E12 Mont Blanc (basshead EQ, bass boost on, high gain) while answering back with a gigantic increment of mid-bass and sub-bass strength but not reaching a basshead impact and rumble like the SONY MDR-EX650, Senfer 4in1, KZ ZSR, KZ ZST, Xiaomi Mi In-Ear Headphones Pro, SONY MDR-EX800ST, Pioneer SE-CX8 or BlitzWolf BW-ES1.

Mids & Vocals

The UiiSii BA-T8S mids are clear with lower vocals that do not get congested or sound distant. Higher mids are crisp but not forward and never get harsh or fatiguing. At the same time, their mids conserve a very satisfying level of warmth.

In general, we find their mids exceptionally resolved with a very pleasant sound and clarity.

With an EQ their mids will scale down some warmth due to a prominent reduction of the bass-mids transitional frequencies but will retain their performance. Despite the aforementioned, their mids do not become thin nor loose SQ, they will just provide you with the chance to fine tune them according to your taste.

Highs & Treble

The UiiSii BA-T8S highs resolve a very good amount of detail and are bright enough to provide a nice experience but are not over-emphasized as to become piercing nor sibilant. In fact, the UiiSii BA-T8S do not exhibit any sibilant or piecing highs at all at any given moment. Overall their highs are another excellently pleasant range resolved by the UiiSii BA-T8S.

An EQ makes their highs noticeably brighter and add significant detail while still remaining absolutely free of piercing and sibilant peaks.

Sound Leak

The sound leaking out of the UiiSii is substantially lower than on most average earphones. If you crank the volume very high some sound will be listenable by nearby people but it will blend on normal city situations.

Sound Isolation

Noise isolation is noticeable, the surroundings will be clearly subdued but do not expect an absolute isolation unless you set a high volume level.

Comfort

The odd shape of the housings could make you doubt about their comfort and fit but seems that UiiSii did their homework with the design, crafting an earphone that sits in the ears excellently with a snug fit and pain-free comfort level.

Response to Equalization

The UiiSii BA-T8S responded magnificently to every single EQ applied; mids offered a much lower mid-bass presence but still sounded warm and energetic; bass added a very important amount of depth and some extra mid-bass punch; highs got strongly brighter and much more detailed while free of piercing or sibilant peaks.
