Yinyoo Pro – Review

Yinyoo Pro

 Yinyoo Pro

| Balanced Armature | Dynamic Driver |

? Yinyoo Pro, a dual-driver hybrid in-ear headphone with MMCX cables.

The Yinyoo Pro have a clear “inspiration” from the ultra-popular KZ ZST with a mixed design that combines the main housing’s of the KZ ZST Pro / KZ ZST Colorful and the back plate of the KZ ZST (carbon), there is also a matching configuration of 2 hybrid drivers (1 balanced armature + 1 dynamic driver). Instead of bi-pin connectors, the cable of the Yinyoo Pro has MMCX connections which are more secure and tighter fitting connectors but also more difficult to detach and have a higher risk of popping out the connection inside the housings if they are not very well-crafted.

The Yinyoo Pro is sold with a cable that has an inline microphone / remote or without it, when buying it you will be able to choose among the 2 options. Usually choosing the mic-less variant will cost you a bit less. The mic is compatible with Android and Apple devices.

As a side note: you can find many popular affordable Asian earphones on Amazon with the “Yinyoo” word first, like: Yinyoo KZ ZS6 or even as Yinyoo ZS6. None of them are from Yinyoo, they are from Knowledge Zenith but seems that the Yinyoo brand is doing an aggressive marketing move to make their brand name stand out on Amazon. Despite the aforementioned, the Yinyoo Pro are actually Yinyoo branded.

B

Bass & Sub Bass

The Yinyoo Pro bass is strong with very deep sub-bass and highly punchy mid-bass. They are clearly a bassy earphone with a bass-centered sound that will make happy die-hard bass lovers but will be boomy and boosted for the rest.

Applying an EQ, their mid-bass and sub-bass gets way out of control becoming a muddy and bass-only earphone.

During our extreme bass tests the Yinyoo Pro took up to 46% of Fiio E12 amplifier‘s power (high gain, bass boost on, custom basshead EQ) with an insane augmentation of mid-bass punch and sub-bass depth; this was something that we were expecting due to their bass-centered and boosted personality showed so far. Regarding basshead impact and rumble, the Yinyoo Pro are able to provide a fairly strong amount that is slightly above the KZ ATE but far away from the Top Basshead Earphones.

M

Mids & Vocals

The Yinyoo Pro mids are very warm (very!) and show strong mid-bass bleed that translates into an overall distant and congested feel of their lower vocals. Higher mids have a bit of crispness but nothing exceptional, we wouldn’t say that they are extremely recessed nor, certainly, forward but a bit unamusing. The almost recessed style gives them freedom of harsh peaks, though.

With an EQ lower mids and lower vocals clear up but mid-bass is still strongly present. Higher mids get crispier but can easily fall into harshness.

H

Highs & Treble

The Yinyoo Pro highs are a bit strange, detail is resolved but they have a sort of split-personality regarding their brightness. Some brightness is there, but they have a very clear dark tint that fights back, which most probably is generated by their out-of-control and invasive bass. To their benefit, piercing highs are not often perceived but, unfortunately, sibilance is present.

An EQ added substantial brightness and removed a large amount of the muffled sounding style; additional detail was also resolved.

SL

Sound Leak

The sound leaking out of these Yinyoo earphones is noticeably lower than on many other earphones. You will able to crank up the volume far up and people nearby will not be disturbed.

SI

Sound Isolation

Noise isolation is acceptably efficient, despite the fact that they will not provide a very strong isolation while hearing to music at a moderate volume but this might be something that you are looking for (or not).

C

Comfort

With practically the same shape, size (and even color) of the KZ ZST, the Yinyoo Pro offer almost the same level of comfort and fit. To be honest, their comfort and fit is equally as good but they have an obnoxious problem, a lot of driver flex.

If you have never heard this term before, driver flex produces a crackling noise coming from the dynamic driver when you put in, out or re-position the earphones in your ears. To give you a very rough (and inaccurate) example of the kind of noise that you will hear, think of a similar noise that aluminum foil makes when squeezed.

EQ

Response to Equalization

We tried to “fix” up many of the less performing audio frequencies of the Yinyoo Pro but the only range that responded fairly well were highs by giving back more brightness and detail, bass became wild and out of control muffling everything, mids cleared some of their lower mids but it was impossible to remove mid-bass bleed up to an acceptable level.
