AULA WIN60 HE Review
Tests & Scores
A
ACCESSORIES & PACKAGING
4.5/5
The AULA WIN60 HE MAX comes in the same style and design of packaging as the WIN68 HE, including inside:
• 2 additional hall-effect switches
• Strap
• Strap assembly pieces
• Dust cover
• Switch/keycap puller
• USB-C cable
D
DESIGN
4.25/5
The AULA WIN60 HE MAX is a compact keyboard with superior design and form factor for gaming purposes, like its small 60% layout with 60 keys and no extra bells and whistles.
Despite no knobs, nor display screens, the AULA includes a dedicated ribbon and RGB south-facing LEDs to add character to the keyboard aesthetics.
The theme is centered over a light-colored design with a white case and a keycaps set with mostly white keycaps and extra ones in grey and purple.
The overall looks of the AULA 60 HE MAX is clean and balanced without becoming dull nor turning into a tacky mess.
CB
CONSTRUCTION & BUILD
4.5/5
The case of the AULA WIN60 HE MAX is made of ABS plastic but with a thickness of plastic material that surpasses many cheap plastic keyboards.
The WIN60 HE MAX carries inside a hot-swappable board with magnetic switches; also, internally, the AULA sports a metal positioning plate and a triple layer design for sound dampening that includes a PO sandwich cotton layer, PO bottom cotton layer and rubber bottom shell.
Mostly probable due to much better keycaps and no wobbly keys, the final sensation of the AULA WIN60 HE MAX makes it feel substantially more solid and rugged than the WIN68 HE MAX that we tested.
Fair to underline that the keyboard does not have adjustable kickstands.
We are aware that we assembled the strap incorrectly as the thicker leather-alike piece should go over the fabric of the strap.
KC
KEYCAPS
5/5
The keycaps of the AULA WIN60 HE MAX are made of durable PBT material, that feel thick and hefty, while the finish is slightly textured to enhance grip.
The design of the keycaps uses blue fonts over white keycaps, with good contrasty final result and large fonts.
The keycaps are of classic Cherry type which are well-proven versatile and an almost widespread industry standard.
SW
SWITCHES
5/5
As suggested by the model name, this keyboard has hall-effect switches (also called magnetic switches) and depending on the model that you buy you can get 2 different Leobog magnetic model of switches, the Wing Chun or Greywood.
The AULA WIN60 HE MAX (model that we are reviewing) comes pre-assembled with Wing Chun switches with allow an insane accuracy of 0.01mm and adjustability.
Being hall-effect switches, users gain the ability to fine-tune and repurpose completely the way that the switches respond and perform by adjusting the actuation of the switches, deadzone, multiple actions according to the travel distance and advanced features like:
• DKS
• MT
• RS
• SOCD
• MPT
• TGL
Switch Specs:
Wing Chun Magnetic Switch
• Switch Type: Magnetic Hall Effect Switch
• Force: 36 gf
• Bottom-out Force: 49gf
• Stroke: 3.4±0.1mm
• Accuracy: 0.02mm
Greywood Magnetic Switch
• Switch Type: Magnetic Hall Effect Switch
• Force: 32 gf
• Bottom-out Force: 50gf
• Stroke: 3.4±0.1mm
• Accuracy: 0.04mm
Exactly the same as the bigger sibling (WIN68 HE), the AULA WIN60 HE makes use of an online driver but this is not the all-mighty VIA nor VIAL but one from AULA brand themselves.
CON
CONNECTIVITY
4/5
It is fair to note that the AULA WIN60 HE MAX is not a wireless keyboard and can exclusively be used through a wired connection.
The connection system uses a USB-C detachable wired and is able to reach up to 8000Hz of polling rate for competitive gaming.
S
SOUND
4.25/5
Unlike what we saw while reviewing the bigger sibling (WIN68 HE MAX), the AULA WIN60 HE MAX performs much better in the sound department with a sound profile that is usually expected from a quality hall-effect keyboard.
Of course, as with nearly all other hall-effect keyboards on the market, you cannot expect the classic thock from a mechanical keyboard but the WIN60 HE MAX offers, still, a clean clack/pop.
Moreover, even the stabilizers feel, sound and perform much better than the WIN68 HE MAX that we reviewed in the past.
