It is nice seeing that the sander comes already packed with several sanding sheets to get right to work without needing to buy some sheets.

Design

The sander has a curved form factor that works quite well with the rubberized, black-color, sections on the grip to make it an easy to grab and handle power tool.

On the front you will find the power on/off button, sitting behind a semi-transparent rubber cover to avoid any dust filtering inside the switch and possibly damaging it – this makes it slightly more difficult to press than it would had been if there was no rubber cover but the durability enhancement is worth the ergonomic price being paid for.

Near the top handle and also on the bottom end of both sides you will notice large grid openings that serve to keep the airflow for optimal working condition of the sander, dust collecting performance and thermals of the motor.

On the bottom of the base you will see the typical self-adhesive type for the sanding sheets and 10 vacuum suction holes – be sure to place the sanding sheets accordingly with the holes.

Overall, the sander has a fairly compact and manageable weight that improves its usability.

Construction & Build

The HYCHIKA Mouse Delta Detail Sander has a build quality feel and style with most other power tools from the brand with a combination of plastic and rubberized parts on the case and exteriors.

Internally, the sander holds a significantly well-spec’ed 1,6 amp motor capable of delivering 200W of power and reaching 14000 orbits per minute.

The cable is thick and sufficiently long as to make the sander usable without having to worry about the cable getting damaged nor having to fiddle with a short and overly rigid cable quality – moreover, the cable has reinforcements on both ends.

While testing the sander we saw the sanding sheets attaching securely to the sander’s base without any of the 50+ sheets tested detaching unexpectedly.

To ensure a tight and non-leaking dust collection, the dust bag connector on the main case is enhanced with a rubberized gasket.

Performance

The delta form factor was a superb complimentary sander type for a standard DeWalt orbital sander that we usually grab for sanding purposes. In fact, the Hychika was able to reach angles and corners that were simply impossible to complete with the orbital sander.

Moreover, this detail sander provided sufficient raw sanding power to hold up with the DeWalt orbital; so there was no drop in working coverage when using both sanders together on the same task.

As part of the tests, we used the sander for both heavy, rough sanding of rusted metal surfaces and also for painted woods; both tasks were completed without showing signs of lacking sanding capability and power – of course, the bundled sanding sheets were not the ideal for this more demanding sanding job and we used a higher quality and better adapted grit for the sanding sheets on these tests.

The further testing of the Hychika were carried out by trying to cover a finer sanding procedure were the DeWalt orbital sander was too much out of control, excessively vibrating and also unable to provide sufficient reach – we would had like to see some sort of speed control instead of the single speed available with the sander. The Hychika behaved much more efficiently for this assignment, from which we obtained very clean sanded surface on woods and furniture that were intended to be restored and at the same time not showing an excess of material sanded off ahead of the needed quantity.

A further welcomed aspect was the dust bag, which was perfectly sealed and was able to capture the sanding dust residue with operational proficiency.

Despite this, a detail that we noticed throughout the time testing the Hychika Mouse Detail Sander was that the dust bag fit is too tight and makes it difficult to remove and re-install each time; yet, this ensures also an air-tight fit to avoid any particles escaping from the dustbag and vent.

Regarding the dB intensity, we could rate the noise being within average and, even, lower than on some other powerful sanders.
