The Redragon EISA K686 PRO SE Anime Keyboard is a 96% keyboard with 98 keys and a knob, which allows it to offer almost all the functionality of a 100% keyboard but with a substantially smaller foot print.
In order to keep the keyboard smaller, the numpad makes use of a 1U keycap, instead of the typical 2U type.
In particular, the theme of this keyboard is based on an AI character called Eisa – anti-AI people might had preferred a true anime character.
Apart from the AI matter, the keyboard is gorgeous with a two-section, two-colored case (blue and white), unique keycaps and a full bottom keyboard case embellished by the EISA theme.
Separating the main keys and the numpad, you will find 4 dedicated status lights that indicate Num Lock, Caps Lock, Connectivity status and Battery status.

The keyboard is mainly constructed in plastic but does not feel overly cheap like an ultra-budget keyboard that you can find online for few bucks.
Internally, the Redragon holds some interesting guts like a hot-swappable board compatible with most mechanical switches on the market (no soldering needed) – worth mentioning that this is a north-facing board.
Moreover, the internals are based on a gasket mount design and includes a triple-layered sound dampening construction with layer materials such as silicone, PET, IXPE and PO foam.

Right away you, surely, have noticed the special keycaps theme included with this keyboard. You are not getting a generic and boring keycaps set, you receive a truly custom set with the EISA waifu anime design.
In addition to this, the keycaps are of excellent quality being made of PBT and having a dye-sublimination printing that ensure long-lasting, oil-resistant and fade-free durability.
To the touch, the keycaps are buttery smooth with a textureless finish.
On the top right corner, you will find the knob (made of metal) that responds with tactile (but silent) per notch feedback.

Redragon lists that the switches equipped inside the EISA K686 PRO SE are custom of linear type but does not specify the brand nor model – you cannot choose any other switches type pre-assembled.
Nonetheless, we can tell you that these are from OUTEMU that Redragon remarks them as being “Hi-Fi” – not sure what they are implying with this audio-related term.
Still, we found these linear switches to perform flawlessly, with a responsive and versatile balance between force, travel and weight.
In fact, the switches have all the characteristics to be perfect daily driver and all-arounder.

The keyboard follows the tendency of most upper-tier models from the brand, including a tri-mode wired and wireless connectivity.
Specifically, the EISA K686 PRO SE can be used through Bluetooth, 2.4G wireless (with the included dongle) or wired with a detachable USB-C connection.
A couple of details that we find worth mentioning are a nice dedicated dongle slot on the right edge of the keyboard and much more user-friendly switches placed on the left edge (instead of being on the back edge)
In spite of this, we have to highlight that we do not love the placement of the USB-C connector on the side edge and, unfortunately, the brand does not details tech-specs that gamers can find important; such as: polling rate, latency, anti-ghosting, etc.

The Redragon EISA K686 PRO SE Anime Keyboard has a distinct poppy-thocky sound profile.
Overall, the keyboard has been well-tuned with no traces of resonance, pinging nor rattling.
In fact, the sound absorbing pads, custom linear switches and pre-lubed stabilizers combine perfectly to empower its proficiency in the sound department.

We tend to see modern keyboards being empowered by at least 4000mAh batteries but, despite being a full-sized keyboard, the K686 PRO SE holds inside a smaller than usual 3000mAh battery.
