The SUNLY 3D Printer Enclosure comes inside a particularly small packaging containing inside the fabric and assembly structural elements, such as:

After unboxing all the sections of the enclosure you will have to match up correctly, in the proper direction and connection of all the pipes and connectors.

Once the “skeleton”/structure of the enclosure is assembled, you can then proceed to fit the fabric of the enclosure around it.

We found that fitting the fabric was a bit complicated at times as it it fit really tight. On the other hand, this granted the snug and stable final assembly of the product.

DESIGN

The SUNLU Printer Enclosure has an external black fabric color with a frontal transparent “window” – the inside of the enclosure is silver-colored.

All around the front and top of the enclosure you will find a continuous zipper closing system with 2 zipper ends. With this you can access the inner-enclosure with ease and decide to either open only the front, a small part of fully from bottom to top.

On the rear bottom, you will find a protected hole that can be used for routing the power cable and even, possibly, a PTFE tube for your filament (if coming from an external spool)

On one of the lateral faces of the external enclosure you can find a large pocket to store anything that you prefer; with a size of 190x210mm, the pocket is deep and wide.

The SUNLU Enclosure does not only serve as a dust protection for your printer but it also adds a performance boost to your 3D printer as the printing environment transforms into an enclosed chamber, thus facilitating the printing of more advanced and technical filaments that would had been too cumbersome or impossible to print efficiently without a sealed chamber.

Moreover, the internal printing environment of the printer gets optimized by optimizing the moisture and temperatures; which greatly serves to avoid common issues such as stringing, clogging, warping and adhesion problems.

On the other there is a removable cover that is attached by Velcro, you can opt to keep it on and obtain a more sealed enclosure or remove it if it is better for you.

CONSTRUCTION & BUILD

The enclosure is externally constructed with a glass fabric that provides waterproof and moisture-proof capabilities, while the interior is covered by a fireproof and heat resistant aluminum foil rated to resist up to 800°C.

The structure of the enclosure is formed by 24 fiberglass pipes which result in a light but stable construction.

The zippers is an element that you will be constantly opening and closing and, fortunately, they seem to be of good quality as they were always smooth and never got jammed.

VERSATILITY

With large internal volume and dimensions of 750x650x550mm (29.53×25.59×21.65″), the SUNLU Enclosure allowed us to transform excellent budget printers like Creality K1 SE into an, almost, flagship fully-enclosed Creality K1C or Creality K2 Pro. Likewise, it provided a cheap-priced but smart way to upgraded a “classic” 3D printer like a ELEGOO Neptune 4 series or a Creality Ender-3 V3 series into an enclosed 3D printer.

It is worth noting that the size of the enclosure is huge but if you are intending to place a classic non-CoreXY printer inside, you need to calculate that the bed axis movement makes the dimension of your printer larger than what you might think. In fact, as you can see from our photo below we were also able to fully fit inside the SUNLU enclosure a mid-sized Creality Ender-3 V3 Plus but when the bed reaches the max front axis end, then the bed exceeds the coverage of the enclosure.

On top of that, you can also use it for 3D resin printers and/or as a storage protective cover against dust, water.
