AULA SC390 Review

ACCESSORIES & PACKAGING
2.5/5
As with other AULA gaming mice, the SC390 comes inside a cardboard packaging with nothing else than a USB cable.

DESIGN
4.5/5
Despite being a mouse that can be classified as ergo, the SC390 is a bit less curvy and a bit fatter than few other gaming mice (also than the SC590 PRO) This does not make less ergonomic nor “worse”, it is just a matter of taste and preference of each user.
On the top case section you might see a black-colored area at the bottom of the main clickers; this is a display screen that gives direct access to info such as DPI value, preset, battery status and connectivity mode.
The display screen cuts the burden of having to guess which DPI settings you are actually using as it literally informs the DPI with its true DPI number and is available to read 100% of the time. This screen, though, is not a button like on the SC590 PRO; the DPI is chosen through the dedicated button on the bottom shell.
On the bottom you will also find another button that is used to switch between the wireless banks and a switch to set the mouse in each of the 3 connectivity modes available.

CONSTRUCTION & BUILD
4/5
The shell of the Aula is made of plastic but does not show squeaky, cracking nor wobbly sections and it could make you think that the sub $30 price tag was wrongly placed for such a nice build.
The surface and finish of the shell has a finely textured and anti-slippery properties that proved to do an excellent job at what it was intended, yet not being overly “sandy”
Inside, the mouse is powered by a PAW3311 optical sensor that is often used in competitors asking 2 to 4 times the price of this one.
SW
SWITCHES
3.75/5
Exactly as with other AULA mice, the brand does not gives a full detailed spec sheet of the switches and encoders being used.
On the other hand, the brand does list that the switches are of micro type and for the response and feel we might say that probably they are the same switches as on the SC590 PRO.
In spite of this, the SC390 gave us the impression of being marginally more responsive with a tiny bit of less pre-travel on all clickers but it was not a drastic difference.
Said so, the main clickers were remarkable performers for spam clicking like a maniac.
CON
CONNECTIVITY
4.5/5
The AULA SC390 is both a wired and wireless mouse with the option to connect it via a Bluetooth connection or 2.4G for wireless use. If you prefer to use it wired, the mouse has a detachable USB-C interface (also used to charge the battery of the mouse)
The bottom of the mouse does not only has a storage slot for the 2.4G dongle but, even, has a removable cover over it – there is no chance that you will drop and lose the dongle.
Fortunately for gamers, the AULA can reach up to 1000Hz of polling rate.
S
SOUND
4.25/5
The side buttons presented dual personality with the forward button showing a mid-deep pitch while the back button being high pitched and almost identical to the sound of the button of the wheel.
The main clickers are also high-pitched and very clicky with a flavor that is way more inline with the back side button than to the forward one.
The wheel has a per notch tactile feedback that is not overly heavy and also responds with a subtle, muted-sound feedback.
P
PERFORMANCE
4.25/5
As an overall comparison, the AULA SC390 might not carry the “Pro” naming as the AULA SC590 PRO but still offers similar performance and nearly identical internals but differing in battery capacity, weight and form factor.
We could even say that the SC390 showed better sliding capabilities than the SC590 PRO, zero issues with the scroll wheel and less pre-travel on all clickers.

B
BATTERY
4.5/5
The SC390 has a respectable battery capacity with a rating of 400mAh, which seems smart to keep the overall weight lighter but still provide good runtime.
