Bass & Sub Bass

The BEEVO EM290 bass is crazy punchy and offers a very good sub-bass depth too.  The bass of these metallic earphones is super fun and will make smile every listener who enjoys a strong energetic bass from their listening sessions. Applying an EQ, mid-bass becomes even punchier and sub-bass gets noticeably enhanced but things could start to get boomy. During our extreme basshead tests the BEEVO EM290 took up to 51% of the maximum power of a Fiio E12 amplifier while being set to high gain, with bass boost turned on and a custom basshead EQ applied. This extreme amplification made the BEEVO EM290 exponentially increase their mid-bass punch and sub-bass depth allowing them to reach a very respectable basshead impact and rumble inline with the KZ ATE and below the KZ ZST or the Senfer 4in1.

Mids & Vocals

The BEEVO EM290 mids can exhibit substantial mid-bass bleed which makes lower vocals somewhat congested but still do not sound too distant or lacking energy and higher mids do not sound congested. Overall their mids are very warm and, to be honest, will probably sound clear enough to the ears of most normal listeners. With an EQ there is a incredible clearing up of lower mids that remain free of boxy vocals and harsh highs; great response here.

Highs & Treble

The BEEVO BM290 has highs with some brightness and very little detail, piercing highs are not an issue but sibilance is present. An EQ gives them a gigantic increase of detail with overall much spacious and better sounding highs. Piercing highs remain under control but sibilance becomes stronger.

Sound Leak

The sound that leaks out of the BEEVO EM290 is higher than many average earphones, not unusable leaking but it has to be considered that setting a very high volume will make your listening sessions audible to nearby people.

Sound Isolation

Sound isolation is good, on par with most average earphones. Moderate to low levels of volume can be set and the BEEVO EM290 will offer a fair level of isolation.

BEEVO opted for a classic bullet-style form factor for the housings of the BM290, which is a design formula that almost always results in great comfort and fit. The metal housings and light general weight of the earphones adds to their comfort; you will be able to wear them for hours long and will not feel any discomfort or pain.

Response to Equalization

The response to EQ was excellent showing evident improvement in every audio frequency. Bass added even more strength to their bass response; mids greatly cleared up and no harsh highs showed up; highs were able to add up a very noticeable amount of detail with a general improvement of highs response but at the cost of increased sibilance.
