? The JBMMJ MJ8600 share some characteristics with other earphones from JBMMJ that we have previously reviewed, like very nicely designed housings, large color variety and tough built (see the JBMMJ MJ007). Moreover, every JBMMJ iem that we have reviewed always had good sound quality so the JBMMJ MJ8600 could also potentially offer good sound quality.

… every JBMMJ iem that we have reviewed always had good sound quality…

The housings are made of aluminum which feels solid but still light, also the cable bifurcation section and plug are made of the same quality materials and are colored exactly as the housings. Cable is quite thick and hefty and it has a rubbery finish which helps to combat tangling. The JBMMJ MJ8600 can be found in silver, black or coffee color (the unit that we have). There is also a version with a flat cable and inline microphone but usually costs 3 or 4 times this model.

Accessories & Packaging

Our unit came inside a zip lock bag with no accessories but a full package with a great quantity of accessories is also offered (mainly we saw the flat cabled version with the full package).

B

Bass & Sub Bass

The JBMMJ MJ8600 have a very nice punch bass with deep and energetic sub-bass that results in a fun sounding earphone ready to energize any song.

After applying an EQ they enhanced the energetic bass tendency but got too muddy.

Regarding basshead impact and rumble, they achieved a wonderful level that we could had never expected

The JBMMJ MJ8600 handled up to 48% of a Fiio E12’s maximum power (high gain and bass boost on) gaining incredible mid-bass punch and sub-bass depth. Regarding basshead impact and rumble, they achieved a wonderful level that we could had never expected from such a cheap earphone. Expect a basshead level above the Xiaomi Mi Pro HD, KZ ATE, Superlux HD381, Monoprice 8320, Vots QT100 and similar to the Elecom EHP-CA3580 or even to the Xiaomi Mi Quantie Pro Hybrid.

M

Mids & Vocals

Mids of the JBMMJ MJ8600 are very warm and smooth, lower mids are recessed and vocals laid back but no horribly. Harshness is never an issue with them. With an EQ mids improve drastically, recession almost disappears and no boxy sounding vocals are perceived. On the other hand, higher mids get harshy at times.

H

Highs & Treble

The JBMMJ have some detail and brightness but they are a still recessed. At the same time, highs are never piercing nor particularly too sibiliant. Equalizing mids gain much more brightness and detail but sibilant and piercing highs start to show up.

SL

Sound Leak

Sound leaking out of the JBMMJ MJ8600 is noticeably attenuated, still perceivable in more quiet situations but it wouldn’t be an issue to use them on normally noisy ocassions.

SI

Sound Isolation

The JBMMJ MJ8600 do a good job blocking outside noises but nothing too exceptional or groundbreaking. Sound surrounding you will get noticeably reduced but with the need of applying a higher volume.

C

Comfort

The aluminum housing and well crafted form factor is comfortable with a solid fit that holds in place and not heavy at all. The narrower end of the housings are perfect to grab the earphones and manage them. The JBMMJ MJ8600 can be used for longer listening sessions without fearing of getting sore ears.

EQ

Response to Equalization

Every audio frequency where we applied a custom EQ the MJ8600 showed great response drastically improving their basal audio quality but some undesired muddiness and piercing highs were brought in.
