Xiaomi Mi Pro HD / Mi In-Ear Headphones Pro HD
| Balanced Armature | 2 Dynamic Drivers |
? The Xiaomi Mi Pro HD / Mi In-Ear Headphones Pro HD are the successor hybrid earphone to the very famous Xiaomi Mi Quantie Pro Hybrid.
The way that Xiaomi publicizes the Xiaomi Mi Pro HD / Mi In-Ear Headphones Pro HD may sound confusing and make you think that they hold inside 2 balanced armatures + 1 dynamic driver, but the real fact is that the configuration is a little less standard; inside they have 2 dynamic drivers and 1 balanced armature.
The Xiaomi Mi Pro HD / Mi In-Ear Headphones Pro HD has a more rounded and larger housing design that looks a bit more premium and aesthetically better finished than the previous version, the Xiaomi Mi Quantie Pro Hybrid (you can check side to side photos of both models at the very end of the page in this review). Other improvements include the microphone and button controller that instead of being of plastic like the previous generation, they are entirely made of metal. The buttons of the controller are no longer black plastic long “bars”, instead they are rounded metallic buttons. Tactile feel is better and makes the overall product feel as a higher class set of iems.

Accessories & Packaging
The Xiaomi Mi Pro HD / Mi In-Ear Headphones Pro HD comes in a white designed box with a minimalist style, similar to the predecessor’s packaging. Inside instead is better packed and better accessorized, making them seem more premium. The accessories included are: a grey soft carrying pouch, 3 extra pair of eartips, and a hard carrying case/storage case with a cable winder that is part of the carrying case. Things have improved since the Xiaomi Mi Quantie Pro Hybrid.

Bass & Sub Bass
The Xiaomi Mi Pro HD / Mi In-Ear Headphones Pro HD have punchy mid bass and very good sub-bass depth. They deliver nice bass that is fun to listen to and capable of adding warmth and energy to every genre.
They deliver nice bass that is fun to listen to and capable of adding warmth and energy to every genre
If you want to emphasize bass strength an eq can be applied and Xiaomi’s will add some more punch and depth.
When pushing the Xiaomi Mi Pro HD / Mi In-Ear Headphones Pro HD to it’s very limits with a custom bass equalization and extreme amplification, they were able to handle up to 47% of the maximum power of a Fiio E12 portable amplifier (with bass boost turned on and set to high gain). The limiting component here was the 2nd dynamic driver, we could feel that the main dynamic driver could take more amplification power but the 2nd DD was crackling and ready to blow up when getting to 50% and above. This has happened to us in the past with other earphones that also had a 2 dynamic driver configuration (the Vots DQ100)
the Xiaomi Mi Pro HD / Mi In-Ear Headphones Pro HD exhibited a slight basshead rumble… if the 2nd dynamic driver wasn’t holding them back the Xiaomi Mi Pro HD / Mi In-Ear Headphones Pro HD could outperform many earphones
As a result with the just explained amplification and equalization configuration the Xiaomi Mi Pro HD / Mi In-Ear Headphones Pro HD exhibited a slight basshead rumble (marginally) sitting way behind the Xiaomi Mi Quantie Pro Hybrid, KZ ZST, KZ ZS2, Senfer 4in1, Elecom EHP-CA3580, Vots QT100, Plextone X41M, Doboly Q18 and still below the KZ ATE. We are almost sure that if the 2nd dynamic driver wasn’t holding them back the Xiaomi Mi Pro HD / Mi In-Ear Headphones Pro HD could outperform many earphones but there is no way to prove it unless you are willing to blow up the 2nd DD.

Mids & Vocals
Mids are clear and vocals are warm, they do not sound boxy at all and they are not harsh. Mid bass bleeds a bit into lower mids recessing them just a tad. Mids are overall very good but if you compare them to the mids of the Xiaomi Mi Quantie Pro Hybrid, they feel a bit laid back and less clear.

Highs & Treble
The highs of the Xiaomi Mi Pro HD / Mi In-Ear Headphones Pro HD are bright, detailed and have good definition. It is worth to be said that they can get piercing with very high peaks and some sibilance can be perceived depending on the range of the vocals. Applying an eq adds brightness but not much more detail and adds also much more sibilance.
In comparison to the Xiaomi Mi Quantie Pro Hybrid, the Xiaomi Mi Pro HD / Mi In-Ear Headphones Pro HD have more detail and definition
In comparison the Xiaomi Mi Quantie Pro Hybrid vs Xiaomi Mi Pro HD / Mi In-Ear Headphones Pro HD, the Pro HD have more detail and definition but they introduced some piercing and sibilant peaks that the previous Xiaomi did not had. If you are very treble sensitive you could be better with the Xiaomi Mi Quantie Pro Hybrid, instead if you prefer better detail and definition the Xiaomi Mi Pro HD will satisfy better your needs.

C
Comfort
The comfort and fit of the Xiaomi is just great, they fit tight enough to securely hold their place and are heavenly comfortable and sore-free; they can be used for hours without any discomfort.

EQ
Response to Equalization
The Xiaomi Mi Pro HD / Mi In-Ear Headphones Pro HD responds well to custom equalization in general. When equalizing bass gets clearly punchier and deeper; mids clear up the slight recession and still do not become harsh nor boxy. When equalizing highs, despite adding brightness they also emphasize much more the sibilance presence that they were already exhibiting and not much more detail is gained.
