Bluedio T5 Turbine
| Over-Ear | Bluetooth | 57 mm Driver | Active Noise Cancelling |
? Bluedio T5 Turbine, the newest headphone from Bluedio with Bluetooth and Active Noise Cancelling.
The Bluedio T5 is a highly featured over-ear headphone with a modern Bluetooth v4.2, Active Noise Cancelling, Type-C connection, Bluedio’s Vector Flow Technology and solid metal construction. This amount of advanced features at this price range is hardly found in the market, some competitors (features-wise) would be the Bose QuietComfort35, Sony MDR-1000X, COWIN E7 but the first 2 have a price that can be around 6 to 7 times the price of the T5 and the COWIN E7 has a price tag that doubles the Bluedio T5 Turbine but with plastic construction instead of metal.
The Bluedio T5 Turbine is the successor of the Bluedio T4s and differently to the previous model updates, the T4 and T5 share the same form factor and design looks but with a different color pattern. The Bluedio T4 (and T4s) offered a silver/black, silver/red or silver/white color choices while the Bluedio T5 Turbine come in all black, red/black, yellow/black options.
The Bluedio T5 Turbine is very solidly built with mainly metal construction except for the plastic cups. Hinges, headband and connections are all made of hefty metal which makes them feel much more premium than their price suggests.
Bluedio’s catalog has been growing into an immense amount of in-ear, over-ear headphones and Bluetooth speakers. It could be said that the motto of Bluedio is creating advanced featured-packed headphones at super bang for buck prices. And they have been showing that they can succeed at it with the enormous number of happy budget-conscious buyers looking for great deals.
In the past we have reviewed the Bluedio T Energy, which proved to be a true bang for buck with their fun sound, countless number of advanced features (like Active Noise Cancelling, Bluetooth connection, etc) and ridiculously affordable price. The Bluedio T5 is part of the same family and line of the Bluedio T Energy (the Turbine line) which includes the: Bluedio T2S, Bluedio T2 Plus, Bluedio T3 Plus, Bluedio T4S and the Bluedio T5. Much like every Bluedio Turbine over-ear headphone, the Bluedio T5 carries inside a huge 57 mm dynamic driver.
Bluedio assures that the Bluedio T5 can provide 28 hours of battery life on a single charge and 100 hours of standby time.

Accessories & Packaging
The Bluedio T5 Turbine unboxing results in: a nice velvety soft carrying pouch, 1x charging cable, 1x Type-C to 3.5mm cable. Everything is packed inside a slim cardboard box.
7.75/10
NOTE: Many times headphones show some degree of sound modification and/or volume output variation when their ANC function is turned on and some also show this when they are used wirelessly instead of wired. We are testing the Bluedio T5 in all their combinations and evaluating if there are any differences.
B
Bass & Sub Bass
Wired – Bluetooth Off – Active Noise Cancelling Off
The Bluedio T5 Turbine bass has a punchy profile but does not have very deep sub-bass. Many modern tracks call mid-bass more than they require sub-bass, so most normal listeners will be ok with their punchy tuning.
7.25/10
Wired – Bluetooth Off – Active Noise Cancelling On
Using the Bluedio T5 Turbine in “Wired – Bluetooth Off – Active Noise Cancelling On”, sub-bass will not be enhanced nor diminished from the previous mode but mid-bass will get lighter and less punchy.
6.25/10
Wireless – Bluetooth On – Active Noise Cancelling Off
In this mode, their sub-bass personality remains as in previous modes and mid-bass will be nearer to their style in “Wired – Bluetooth Off – Active Noise Cancelling On”.
6.25/10
Wireless – Bluetooth On – Active Noise Cancelling On
With all their functions turned on, the bass of the Bluedio T5 gets marginally punchier than the last 2 modes and sub-bass remains inline with every previous mode.

M
Mids & Vocals
Wired – Bluetooth Off – Active Noise Cancelling Off
The Bluedio T5 Turbine have very warm mids but lower and male vocals still do not sound excessively congested nor laid back, providing sufficiently alive and present sound. Higher mids are clearer and less congested but do not get harsh.
Be aware that the Bluedio T5 are strongly affected by their positioning, if you wear them with the front earpads near the front section of your ears their bass weakens and consequently their mid-bass too (but in theory this is not their correct placement)
7.25/10
Wired – Bluetooth Off – Active Noise Cancelling On
In this mode, mids sound thinner and boost their upper mids range, making them crispier but also reaching harshy peaks. Lower vocals sound less congested thanks to a noticeable reduction of mid-bass bleed.
7/10
Wireless – Bluetooth On – Active Noise Cancelling Off
With the Bluedio T5 set to “Wireless – Bluetooth On – Active Noise Cancelling Off”, there is a sort of averaged pros of both previous modes + hardly any of their cons. Translated: their mids sound warm but clear with non congested vocals, crisp and sufficiently clear higher mids but not harsh and showing some mid-bass bleed but much less present than “Wired – Bluetooth Off – Active Noise Cancelling Off”, so far the best mode for sound quality of mids.
7.5/10
Wireless – Bluetooth On – Active Noise Cancelling On
This mode provides odd sounding mids with harsh higher mids and tinny vocals, if mids and vocals are your preference you should be better with the previous mentioned mode instead of this.
5.5/10
H
Highs & Treble
Wired – Bluetooth Off – Active Noise Cancelling Off
The Bluedio T5 Turbine highs offer some brightness and a little amount of detail, their overall style is non-aggressive with a darkish and somewhat recessed tuning. Their highs personality will probably be appreciated by treble sensitive people or whom strongly dislikes sibilance and piercing highs.
6.5/10
Wired – Bluetooth Off – Active Noise Cancelling On
The overall highs of the Bluedio T5 Turbine become bright but do not resolve a lot of detail, piercing highs can now show up strongly and frequently but sibilance is still not present.
6.5/10
Wireless – Bluetooth On – Active Noise Cancelling Off
Using the Bluedio T5 Turbine on this mode, they answer back with good enough brightness and some detail resolved. Expect something inline with a mix of both previous styles but no extreme improvement nor deterioration from neither, some piercing peaks can show up and mostly no sibilance issues will be present.
6.75/10
Wireless – Bluetooth On – Active Noise Cancelling On
Like what was seen in the “Mids & Vocals” and “Bass & Sub Bass” sections, things also get a bit weird (soundwise) in this mode for their highs. Sound become more fatiguing, not much detail is resolved and SQ gets noticeably inferior.
5.5/10
SL
Sound Leak
The sound leaking out of the Bluedio T5 Turbine is slightly lower than many average closed-back headphones – whenever you keep the volume within moderate levels.
7.75/10

SI
Sound Isolation
Passive isolation of the Bluedio T5 Turbine is above most average headphones with a clear subdued perception of environmental sounds even at moderate volume settings.
We measured their Active Noise Cancelling dB reduction, which averaged -12dB (near 100Hz) and -19dB (near 400Hz) – @400Hz -19dB is a substantial level of reduction.
One peculariaty of the ANC system of the T5 is that once you move the switch to the ON position, their ANC does not turn on immediately, it takes 5 seconds to truly turn on – therefore, if you turn the switch and see no ANC effect, just give them 5 seconds

Comfort
Pairing process was smooth and easy with fast recognition and discovery by any device being paired to. You will find them as “Bluedio T 5th”. Pads are easy to remove due to their ring support that has a twist and lock mechanism.
The headband is well-padded as well as the earmuffs/earpads. The overall size of the earcups/pads is large and rounded and offer comfortable over-ear fit; moreover, they can lay fully flat for easy transport.
The good padding and large earcups offer a very comfortable experience for long use without immediate fatiguing use.

EQ
Response to Equalization
Active Noise Cancelling of the Bluedio T5 Turbine provided a strong modification in their sound and volume output and despite the similar scores of “Wired+ANC OFF” & “Wired+ANC ON”, both modes sound substantially different.
The general response to EQ presented some sub-bass depth revealed (not radical enhancement though), minimal extra punch added, noticeable improvement of mids with less mid-bass bleed and clearer lower vocals while higher mids should not be modded (sound remains similar in style and personality). Furthermore, there was an important improvement in highs with much less congested and brighter highs that also reveal more detail.
