? MPOW H17, a super affordable wireless headphone.
The MPOW H17 features 40mm dynamic drivers with neodymium magnets, Active noise cancelling and Bluetooth.
The MPOW H17 is fully named MPOW H17 ANC Bluetooth Headphones and can also be found as MPOW BH381A or MPBH381AB.
The unit is made of plastic with reinforced metal hinges and headband structure. The back section of the earpads has a leathery feel that adds a nice finish to the headphones and that is similar to the protein earmuffs.
The inner top headband has a soft and cushiony section with stitches adding to the design style.
Overall, the headphone looks quite nice and has an aesthetic feel of what a son of a BOSE + SONY headphone would look like.
As a point of reference, the MPOW H17 is lighter than the MPOW H12 while the MPOW H12 gives a sensation of a better or more rugged feel.

Bass & Sub Bass
ANC Off
The MPOW H17 bass is super punchy and meaty with very strong punchy right out of the box.
Sub-bass is equally as capable of getting remarkably deep as to be a great companion for electronic, EDM, trance or tracks which claim profound bass.
Said so, it is also fair to note that these are bass-centered headphones with a nearly bass-only sound signature that will not fit people looking for a more versatile companion.
The already crazy bass can be boosted with an EQ to provide an even more intense punch and a remarkably deep sub-bass that can mildly shake the ears.

ANC On
Bass will not show any major retuning when activating their ANC but a more open and less bass-centered sound will be introduced that will give their lower frequencies a cleaner feel, yet conserving the very strong punch and deepness exhibited before activating it’s ANC.

Mids & Vocals
ANC Off
The MPOW H17 have Extremely warm and crowded mids due to very strong mid-bass bleed.
Their male mids and low midrange will feel drowned by their overly boosted upper and middle bass.
The headphones show also a general recession over their upper midrange, resulting in distant vocals and a tuning that will not provide a very crisp sound. On the other hand, all these characteristics will fully grant zero risks of harsh peaks.
For anything else than EDM and bass-intense tracks we would say that trying to fix their midrange with an EQ will be mandatory and the MPOW H17 will respond with fair cleaning up of their lower and upper mids but it will be impossible to expect magic from a simple EQ.

ANC On
An audible cleaning up of their midrange will happen as soon as it’s ANC is turned on, with a fair general improvement over it’s sound quality.
Nonetheless, their midrange will keep being very warm and substantially congested by their excessively strong bass.

Highs & Treble
ANC Off
The overpowering bass presence extends over their highs personality too which combined with a rolled-off tuning results in, decisively, dark highs.
As seen on their midrange, the highs and treble also suffer from strong congestion and a busy overall feel. Despite this, the MPOW H17, somehow, is able to resolve some detail.
With an EQ, their highs can be pushed to reveal much more detail and reorganize some of their upper end but with a significant increment of sibilance.

ANC On
A much more improved highs and treble performance is revealed when it’s ANC if turned on, with a way more acceptable level of brightness and detail capabilities.
Despite this, the MPOW H17 will always be a dark sounding headphone. Regarding fatiguing peaks, some empowering of their sibilance should be expected.

Sound Leak
When used on normally noisy situations and while listening to music at moderate volume settings, the MPOW H17 will leak an acceptable amount of sound as to be usable without worries but will become somewhat too leaking when cranking the volume above moderate or while using it on environments where silence is required.

Sound Isolation
Different to the MPOW H12, the ANC will activate immediately when switching it On and will not show any “weird” temporary sounds.
Activating it’s ANC, the MPOW H17 will provide a very noticeable reduction of humming noises and constant sound such as during airplane flights, many of the overall city noises, etc.
Getting technical, the MPOW H17 has the potential of providing as much as 18.7dB of noise cancellation on their most efficient range and as low as 5dB on their less efficient range.
These results make it a very efficient noise cancelling headphone at it’s price point.

Comfort
The MPOW H17’s cups can adapt to any head and ears thanks to their deep design, fairly large size, thick padding and generous tilting range.
Moreover, the cups can be folded, rotated and even placed fully flat.

Response to Equalization
The MPOW H17 showed a very strong response to EQ to boost their bass but was far from being as efficient when applied to clean up their mids and/or highs.
