NAD VISO HP50
| Over-Ear | 40 mm Driver |
NAD VISO HP50, the flagship (non-wireless) headphone from the brand.
The NAD VISO HP50 features 40 mm dynamic drivers, an over-ear fit and a closed-back design.
The construction of the NAD VISO HP50 include materials such as lush leather and brushed metal but the cups are constructed in plastic. The headband is well-padded and has an all-metal structure.
According to the format, price range and public aimed, the NAD VISO HP50 sits as a competitor of the:
- Meze 99 Neo
- Meze 99 Classics
- Sennheiser HD 598
- Sony MDR-1A – latest model called Sony MDR-1AM2
- B&O H6 2nd generation
- Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO
NAD Electronics has packed their proprietary RoomFeel™ technology in the NAD VISO HP50, which the brand says to provide an open and warm sound.
The cups of the NAD VISO HP50 have a rectangular design with soft pads, can be fully rotated to lay flat and tilt down to 45 degrees (approximately).
Each cup has a stereo cable connector on the bottom, allowing the single-sided cable to be connected on either side – seen also in other headphones such as the KOSS Pro4s, Marshall Monitor, V-MODA Crossfade M-100.
NAD’s headphones line include the:
- NAD HP70 – over-ear wireless active noise cancelling headphone
- NAD HP50 – model being reviewed in this article
- NAD HP30 – on-ear headphone
- NAD HP20 – in-ear headphone

B
Bass & Sub Bass
The NAD VISO HP50 bass is full-sounding with mid-bass and sub-bass that offer proper punch and depth.
Their lower frequencies are not tuned to be a basshead headphone nor a bass-only sounding one, still their style is very energetic and fun as to cover almost every music genre’s bass requirements without falling short.
Applying an EQ results in a substantial deeper sub-bass and some extra mid-bass punch, making them a much more bass-centered headphone.

M
Mids & Vocals
The NAD VISO HP50 male vocals are gentle and warm with a non-aggressive tuning but that do not fall into distant nor muddy sound. Lower mids exhibit a bit of mid-bass bleed, yet there is not a huge amount of congestion on them.
Higher mids offer satisfactory crispness but do not get forward nor harsh.
Overall, their mids and vocals are mellow and absent of harshness.
An EQ can, radically, clear up their lower mids and male vocals making them much less congested and present sounding while higher mids can be pushed for some extra crispness – still no boxy nor tinny sounding mids will be introduced
8.5/10
H
Highs & Treble
The NAD VISO HP50 highs are sufficiently bright and resolve an acceptable amount of detail for normal listening. They are far from being the brightest nor the most detailed headphone that your money can buy but they will offer a reliable amount of both – as to fulfill relaxed music listening sessions.
Their highs are not overly recessed but are certainly not forward nor a treble-centered headphone. Due to this, they are not a fatiguing sounding headphone, with nearly no piercing peaks and mild sibilance.
Using an EQ there is a noticeable addition of brightness, also detail can be squeezed out of the NAD VISO HP50 with good results but some slight fatiguing peaks will show up.
