Bass & Sub Bass

The SOL REPUBLIC Relays Sport bass is highly punchy and fairly deep, with a clearly mid-bass centered and boosted response that gives them a fun and energetic sound but also boomy and mostly bassy sound signature.

Applying an EQ, there is an important addition of depth and punch.

When putting the SOL REPUBLIC Relays Sport through out our extreme basshead tests, they managed to handle 30% of a Fiio amplifier maximum power (Fiio E12 Mont Blanc) with a huge empowering of it’s bass but no basshead rumble nor impact and far from reaching the crazy level of the Sony MDR-EX800st / Sony MDR7550, Pioneer SE-CX8, Sony MDR-EX650, Pioneer SE-CX7, Beats urBeats, Fidue A31S, SENFER EN900, RevoNext QT3, Sennheiser CX300-II, Symphonized NRG 3.0.

Mids & Vocals

The SOL REPUBLIC Relays Sport mids have substantial mid-bass bleed, very warm mids but noticeably congested lower mids that affects also their male vocals. Despite the congestion they do not sound distant.

Higher mids are rolled-off resulting in less crispness than many other earphones but also smoother and non-harsh at all.

With an EQ there is a bit of mid-bass reduction and vocals enhancement but they will struggle to level up to normally acceptable mids sound quality.

Highs & Treble

The SOL REPUBLIC Relays Sport highs have a general darkening and muddiness to their sound signature generated by their overly boosted mid-bass and this affects their highs too – resulting in a dark and detail-less response.

Such a recessed degree gives them fatigue-free peaks.

An EQ makes a noticeable increment of detail and some extra brightness is added, still their highs will remain dark and poorly detailed.

Sound Leak

The sound leaking out of the SOL REPUBLIC Relays Sport is slightly higher than most average headphones, this means that they will be hearable by nearby people, in less noisy situations.

Considering their main usage intention they are capable earphones with features that pack them well to fulfill the needs of sports people, like: extra secure fit, sweat and water resistance, slim and flush fit, bassy energetic sound, remote/mic with dedicated volume buttons.
