This Xiaomi earphone has inherited a classic brand’s form factor and design with it’s truncated cone shape and pronouncedly angled nozzles.
Regarding build, this model is fully made of plastic; sitting more inline with the brand’s ultra affordable lineup of earphones than their mid-tier and high-tier offerings.

The Xiaomi Redmi 9 In-ear Earphones bass is intensively punchy and bouncy with a mid-bass style that will be enjoyable for listeners who look for a fun and bassy sound.
Moreover, the Xiaomi Redmi 9 earphone can provide a respectably deep sub-bass response; nonetheless, their mid-bass showed a stronger boost than their sub-bass.
All in all, many will find these to be a capable companion for bassy listening sessions but might want to consider other options for sub-bass centered genres.
The score in this section was given to this Xiaomi earphone due to their powerful mid-bass response but certainly not for a refined bass.

The Xiaomi Redmi 9 In-ear Earphones mids have a very warm midrange with noticeable mid-bass bleed.
Due to this, their lower midrange can suffer from substantial congestion with most tracks, regardless of the mid-bass intensity present in the song.
Despite this, their male vocals do not sound recessed but will struggle to fight back on songs where mid-bass is frequent.
Higher mids might sound a bit too recessed for more demanding listeners or to whom is used to higher-performing earphones, while average consumers might dig their less forward tuning. On the other hand, this Xiaomi earphone can show mild harshness from time to time.

The overpowering mid-bass described in the Bass section, is still able to overstep and affect their highs, adding a layer of congestion over the upper frequencies (in addition to the congestion added to the whole sound signature).
Moreover, the Xiaomi Redmi 9 earphone has a rolled-off upper tuning that is far less extended than most modern Xiaomi earphones.
These 2 factors add up to a highs and treble signature that might feel too dark or too busy for most listeners.
Similar to what was seen on their midrange, despite the recessed tuning some fatiguing peaks such as sibilance are present and might get frequent on sibilant-prone tracks.

As so, their possibility to be “fixed” with an EQ is nearly impossible as well.
Nonetheless, owners will have the possibility to play around with custom equalization to compensate slight sections of the sound spectrum – if it is worth the effort.
