The KiiBOOM Topaz comes inside a nice packaging with a magnetic closing system and a plastic protection per switch inside.

DESIGN

The KiiBOOM Topaz have a semi-translucent design with an green emerald color across the whole housing, top cover, bottom case and stem.

In addition to the frosted polycarbonate translucent construction, the KiiBOOM Topaz have an in-built LED slot to optimize the backlighting of your board.

Internally, the switches are equipped with a single spring and palladium-plated reeds.

COMPATIBILITY

The KiiBOOM Topaz have a standard MX structure, making them compatible with all MX keycaps on the market.

On top of that, these switches have a 5-pin mechanical switch design so they can fit 5-pin hot-swappable boards – if you have a 3-pin board, you can do some DIY butchery and cut the 2 additional plastic pins.

The higher actuation force could fit the taste of some gamers but you might probably be better choosing a lighter switch variant for intense gaming.

On the other, hand the KiiBOOM Topaz are fairly fast with 2.2mm of pre travel and 3.2mm of total travel.

The KiiBOOM Topaz can be rated as a heavier than normal switch with an actuation force of 59gf and a bottom force of 65gf.

This, though, gives it an unique personality and feel that we found to love for typing with a higher rate of accuracy and better sensation that confirms each keypress, yet still being a linear switch and not a tactile one.

PERFORMANCE

The KiiBOOM Topaz have a refined and clean sound profile that vastly surpasses the sound quality of switches like the Gateron Yellow classics.

Typical issues of mechanical switches such as scratchiness or uneven travel are perfectly handled by the KiiBOOM Topaz; in fact, they do not exhibit any traces of scratchy feel nor pinging.

You can expect a low-pitched, thocky sound out of the KiiBOOM Topaz – with a slight clacky seasoning.
