REMAX RM-S1 PRO
| 10 mm Driver |
? The REMAX RM-S1 PRO are a sports in-ear headphone with translucent housings and a flat profile at a super affordable price. REMAX is a Chinese company with a massive catalog of diverse products, from smartphone cases, action cams up to bluetooth speakers, earphones, headphones and much more.
REMAX has manufactured several earphones that have become quite famous, like the microdriver Remax RM-565i which we have reviewed some time ago.
The REMAX RM-S1 PRO hold a 10mm dynamic driver inside their translucent housings, despite the relatively large driver the earpieces have a small size. The plastics material chosen for their construction allows them to remain light weighted but still robust. The cables are rounded and have a very rubberized finish that will provide a good anti-tangling capability.
The cable holds an inline microphone and 3 button control with dedicated volume control, besides it you will be able to play/pause music, answer/reject calls and skip songs. The mic/control has a switch on the rear side that provides compatibility with iOS and Android devices by just setting it in the corresponding position. The cable bifurcation, stereo plug section and control/mic are as rubberized as the cable.

B
Bass & Sub Bass
The 10 mm dynamic driver of the REMAX RM-S1 PRO offers a very fun and punchy bass response with also a good amount of sub-bass depth. Bass is energetic and will provide as much bass as requested by any music genre, even for the most demanding ones.
Applying an EQ, there was a huge increase of punch and mostly of depth.
Running the REMAX RM-S1 PRO through our extreme bass tests, applying a custom basshead EQ and highly amplifying with a Fiio E12 Mont Blanc with it’s bass boost turned on and set to high gain, the earphones were able to take up to 45% of the Fiio’s maximum power but to be honest anything above 35% power resulted in distorted sub-bass. The results were a substantial increase of mid-bass and sub-bass but with a subtle rumble and impact, despite their initial non-amplified bass response they do not reach a basshead level nor they get anywhere near the Best Basshead In-Ear Headphones.

M
Mids & Vocals
Mids of the REMAX RM-S1 PRO have clear enough sounding lower mids and energetic lower vocals with a warm tint. It is important to note that there is an evident mid-bass bleed onto lower vocals but giving a small touch with an EQ they will be greatly achieved. Higher mids are not recessed but still mostly not harsh. With an EQ there is an almost absolute removal of the mid-bass bleed resulting in much clearer lower vocals with no harshness introduced.

H
Highs & Treble
Highs have a good amount of brightness and detail while not sounding piercing nor sibilant. An EQ gives them a great amount of added detail and clearly more brightness too, at the same time sibilant and piercing highs do not become strong or fatiguing.

SL
Sound Leak
The sound leaking out of the REMAX RM-S1 PRO is more audible than most average earphones; designed with a sport-intended use this should not be something to worry much about but if you are looking for a companion for library or bed use you are better advice to look at our Best In-Ear Headphones for Libraries or check our Best Earphones for Bed Charts.

SI
Sound Isolation
The REMAX RM-S1 PRO might not have the lowest sound leaking level but instead they have an exceptional sound isolation from surrounding noises, their capability is certainly above normal earphones allowing to use low or moderate volume levels and still get a strong isolation.
8/10
C
Comfort
With their small size, very light weight, sport design with the cables going above and around the ears, strong and flush positioning they are able to offer an exceptional comfort and pain free experience. Moreover, they provide a strong fit to withstand any type of active usage and because of their flush fit they can be a great companion for people looking for an in-ear headphone to use with helmets.
10/10
EQ
Response to Equalization
The REMAX RM-S1 PRO have shown a near perfect response to every custom EQ we have applied; lower frequencies gained an incredible amount of mid-bass and sub-bass, mids and vocals cleared up and mid-bass bleed got reduced, treble and highs became brighter, more detailed and no piercing or sibilant highs were added.
