XKDUN CK-660
| 10 mm Driver |
? The XKDUN CK-660 earphones offer nice specs at a super budget-friendly price with very fun color/design with aluminum housings and a braided cable. We have a pink unit but if you are not into girly colors do not worry because XKDUN sells the CK-660 in many other colors such as: black, blue or violet. Housings have the classic bullet form factor and are made of aluminum which makes them durable and at the same time super light, the back part of the housings has a metal grid that suggests an open-back design. Cable is braided and shares the color pattern of the housings (if you got the black model, cable will be black and white) There is no inline microphone or button control but the stereo plug is 90 degrees angled.

B
Bass & Sub Bass
The XKDUN CK-660 have punchy mid-bass and some sub-bass depth but comparing them they are more punchy than deep. Bass is strong and will cover most music genres without falling into boomy sound. With an EQ, the XKDUN gained a lot of punch and noticeable more depth but started to sound muddy and dark. Under our extreme bass test, the XKDUN CK-660 handled up to 51% of a Fiio E12’s maximum power with exponential gain of punch and depth and reaching a respectable basshead rumble and impact similar to the KZ ATE and VJJB K1S. At the same time there was a general vast improvement of their mids and highs frequencies.

M
Mids & Vocals
Mids of the XKDUN CK-660 are too recessed on lower frequencies making lower vocals sound too distant and lack energy. Higher mids do not seem as recessed as lower mid frequencies and at the same time do not sound harsh. An EQ was able to remove some recession of lower mids but still they sounded too laid back, while higher mids started to fall into harshness.

H
Highs & Treble
Highs are able to resolve some detail but lack some brightness. In general they are not piercing but showed a mild sibilance. Applying an EQ, highs opened up a bit and gained noticeable detail, piercing highs still were not an issue but sibilant highs became stronger and more frequent.
5.5/10
SL
Sound Leak
The sound that leaks out of these earphones is worse than many average earphones because of their sort of open-back design. They will not be the best choice for library usage.
6/10
SI
Sound Isolation
The XKDUN CK-660 were able to isolate from noises without using extremely high volumes but full isolation will never be achieved unless you crank the volume way up.
7/10
C
Comfort
The XKDUN are very light and comfortable, they do not generate pain inside the ears. If flexing drivers is something that upsets you, the CK-660 will not be of your liking because their drivers flex with any slight movement.
8/10
EQ
Response to Equalization
The response to equalization was quite poor; despite enhancing some of their bass, mids and highs also every frequency introduced issues such as muddiness, darkness, harshness and sibiliance.

Summary
- ✅ Very comfortable and light weighted
✅ Aluminum housings adds toughness without adding weight
✅ Bass is fun and energetic without sounding boomy
- ❌ Lower mids are too recessed
❌ Highs quality is not the best you can find around
❌ Excessive driver flex can be annoying
- The XKDUN CK-660 are joyful and colored earphones that offer aluminum housings, braided cables and very fun bass but fall short on mids/highs audio quality and suffer from too much driver flex. Mids and highs quality is not audiophile level but is not outrageously bad as to be unusable for less demanding listeners.
Because of their colorful design and fun sound they can be recommended to normal listeners that want a fun looking earphone that can be carried around without worrying if they break or as a gift to your kids.
