The EPOMAKER RT100 ISO UK has a 95% layout with 98 keys and a knob.

Between the main keys and the beginning of the numpad, the keyboard has 4 small LED light indicators that show Numlock, Capslock, battery alert status, lock.

Being a keyboard model with a ISO layout, the “\ |” key that you usually find above the Enter key in an ANSI keyboard is now placed next to the left Shift but with a 1u size, thus also reducing the size of the left Shift. On the contrary, the main enter key will now be larger and taller (the typical Enter key from a ISO keyboard) – of course, the standard symbols swapping from ANSI to ISO is seen on the EPOMAKER RT100 ISO UK.

The EPOMAKER RT100 ISO UK retro white uses three different colors for their keycaps, with the main ones using the retro-white theme, additional keycaps being pale purple for the ESC, spacebar and Enter (only in numpad) and the remaining ones with a mid grey tone.

The keycaps colors perfectly combine with the same retro-white color of the case white the Mini TV adds a touch of 1980s to the formula with a classic 80s brown color.

Without doubt the EPOMAKER RT100 ISO UK Retro White nailed its naming, as the model truly looks like a retro keyboard.

The display screen of the EPOMAKER RT100 ISO UK (called Mini TV by the brand) is a TFT LCD with a detachable system through an USB-C connector on the back left edge of the case, behind a removable cover – this is the same place where you find the 2.4G dongle.

The screen will display a clock, date, battery status and charge, volume animations, connection status and mode, current connection type, CPU usage, weather temperature of a city of your choice and also the possibility to upload/create images or animated GIFs.

The display screen of the new RT100 ISO UK has a slight design difference from the previous model, now the screen is flatly integrated with the bezels and shell of the mini TV – the previous one was recessed with the bezels protruding.

The EPOMAKER RT100 ISO UK has 3 height positions thanks to the dual-adjustable feet which help out to add inclination to the keyboard as the case of this model is flatter than many other keyboards.

The MDA profile of the keycaps and the fairly more compact than size than similar keyboard with a 97% layout allow it to be more ergonomically friendly by making easier to reach all keys of the keyboard with less need to navigate around with hand movements.

Most probably is you are from USA an ISO layout might make you scratch your head and have to apply some muscle memory re-adjusting but if you are from the UK or European you are probably more used to the UK ISO layout than the US ANSI.

The overall market has a higher demand of US ANSI keyboards, so ISO layouts are less-common and many times not found on some neat keyboards. To be honest, we always liked the larger Enter key of ISO keyboards and find it more ergonomically optimized and less-prone to input errors when looking for the enter key.

The EPOMAKER RT100 ISO UK has a gasket-mounted design and a south-facing hot-swappable Kailh socket board that allows it to replace switches without any soldering.

Inside, the keyboard is equipped with a dedicated multi-layering dampening system that includes a Poron sandwich layer, bottom case foam and a switch pad.

Being almost a 100% keyboard, the EPOMAKER RT100 ISO UK might make you think that this a heftily heavy one but the ABS case of the RT100 ISO UK is able to keep the weight under control while still feeling rugged and durable.

The keycaps of the EPOMAKER RT100 ISO UK have a fine, smooth texturized finish that adds a pleasant feel to the touch.

The keycaps are 5-side dye-sub PBT with a much thicker build than most PBT keycaps included with pre-assembled keyboards and even of better quality than many premium PBT keycaps sets.

To be honest, we find the color of the these keycaps more useable than the ones that we saw on the RT100 deep gray, making the retro-white way easier to see and even more on low-light conditions.

The knob on the latest RT100 ISO UK has been improved substantially with a much smoother rotation; the previous one had the tendency to get partially blocked when rotated from the edge with one finger.

The wired connection works through a detachable USB-C cable connection (connector placed on the back edge more or less aligned with the DEL key)

Wirelessly, users have the option to use 3 different Bluetooth slots to connect with 3 different devices and an additional wireless 2.4G connection (with the included dongle)

All connections were reliable and stable while needing minimum effort to go through the first pairing of Bluetooth connections and fast response times when waking up from a sleep state – mostly the 2.4G.

The variant of the EPOMAKER RT100 ISO UK that we are reviewing has Gateron Pro Yellow switches – which are one of the most widely popular and sought-after switches on the market.

The EPOMAKER RT100 ISO UK provides an unexpectedly deep and decisively thocky sound out of these switches, up to a “thockiness” that no other pre-assembled consumer keyboard is able to reach with the same Gateron Pro Yellows.

As a point of reference, even the EPOMAKER TH80-X that we have reviewed some time ago (that came with the same switches) is far from reaching the same thocky sound.

Moreover, the RT100 ISO UK never showed pinging, echo nor resonance while the pre-lubed stabilizers performed remarkably well.

Our specific unit had an issue with the spacebar that was “stuck” out of the box, when removing the keycap we noticed that the spacebar’s foam had fully popped-out of place, thus making it get “stuck”; the fix was extremely easy by simply pushing back the foam a bit into the cutout/space where the foam should be sitting – you can see it better from one our photos below – to avoid completely cancelling the dampening from the foam do not push it fully into the slot.

SOFTWARE

When testing the RT100 ISO UK, the keyboard was not recognized by the version of EPOMAKER software that we had installed from all out past EPOMAKER reviews; a new updated version was required to download and install.

The newer version compatible with the RT100 ISO UK has been completely redesigned with a better UI, cleaner overall settings navigation and a more intuitive customization.

For the first time with an RT100 model, we were able to get the CPU % readings on the display addon of the keyboard but despite also synchronizing the time correctly, the date always remained as 0000/00/23 – obviously this will be an easy fix for EPOMAKER on any newer software/firmware update.

A note on the CPU readings, to keep getting updated live CPU stats you need to have the software running on your PC but after a while we noticed that the CPU stats stopped updating – clicking the Sync button on the PC software or pressing the shortcut for screens switching (Fn+ left CTRL) reactivated the live stats for a while.

The EPOMAKER RT100 ISO UK carries inside a large 5000mAh battery, being a keyboard with 98 LED lights keys to power and a large display, this Epomaker model welcomes the bigger battery.

Of course, if you want to prioritize battery life you should consider detaching the display screen and turning off the RGB lighting.
