ACCESSORIES & PACKAGING

The GAOMON PD1320 comes inside a sturdy packaging including:
• 2-in-1 USB cable
• Video cable
• Pen
• Pen holder
• Nibs
• Cover
• Power adapter
D
DESIGN
4.25/5
At first sight you could easily think that the GAOMON PD1320 is an Android tablet as this pen display does not have express keys nor any other clearly visible elements that might suggest that this is a drawing graphic monitor.
The unit has an all-black case with thick bezels in a 16:9 ratio and 4 rubberized feet on the bottom case.
The left edge of the pen display has a 3-way switch while the top edge holds a power button – none of them are reprogrammable nor available to be used as express keys.
The switch is used for the OSD navigation and built-in settings of the display.
Unexpectedly, the GAOMON PD1320 includes a headphone jack, which nearly no other pen display on the market has.
Overall, the GAOMON PD1320 is smaller and lighter than other pen displays with a dimension of 343x233x13.4mm and weighting just 880g.
DC
DISPLAY SCREEN
4.5/5
The display of the GAOMON PD1320 has a diagonal size of 13.3″ with a resolution of 1920×1080.
The brand has opted for a full-lamination AG glass that shows better viewing experience than other older, small pen displays that we have reviewed in the past, with good sharpness and fair control of the viewing angles without losing contrast and definition.
If you are interested in the tech-specs of the panel, the display can offer good brightness at 220cd/m2 and decent color coverage with 86% NTSC gamut.
The small screen size combined with its 1920×1080 resolution results in a higher PPI than larger pen displays with 1080 panels.
P
PEN
4.5/5
The pen compatible with the GAOMON PD1320 is the AP50 model, which is used on many other pen displays from GAOMON.
This is a EMR pen that works without any batteries, offers 8192 levels of pressure sensitivity and detects tilt angles of up to 60 degrees.
C
CONNECTIVITY
4.5/5
The right edge of the case holds all I/O connections of the PD1320, which include a Mini HDMI connector for video, USB-C for signal/input/power and a full-featured USB-C for video and signal in one.
It is unfortunate, though, that a pen display with a size that would be decent for portability and on-the-go use, has been equipped out-of-the-box with the need of an external power supply and a multi-cable connection design.
On the other hand, this pen display does support full USB-C single cable connection for power, display and pen input but the compatible cable does not come included with the unit.
E
USE
GRAPHIC DESIGN
4.25/5
If you are a graphic designer on the go or already have your fixed working setup already covered, the GAOMON PD1320 can offer you a smart choice for on-the-go graphic design work without adding too much space and weight to your bag.
PHOTOGRAPHY
4/5
Similar to what we highlighted for graphic designers, the PD1320 can work as a fairly good portable companion for quick work while traveling or in cafes.
The limiting factor for serious photography work will be the lack of express keys and the small display with 13.3″ which will make you zoom in/out and pan to be able to see smaller details like dust and dead pixels.
DRAWING / SKETCHING / 3D DESIGN
4.25/5
The size and resolution of this pen display combined with the overall good performance and responsive pen from GAOMON makes the PD1320 a good option creatives with a tighter budget that do not need a bigger display or express keys.
MOBILE
4.25/5
Thanks to the full-featured USB-C cable, the GAOMON PD1320 works well for mobile users wanting to pair the device with smartphones or tablets.
The light and compact footprint add up to a smooth experience but some express keys might had been useful for mobile users.
VIDEO EDITING
3.75/5
If you are intending to invest in a productivity addon for video editing, the PD1320 might provide the benefit or a pen sensitive secondary monitor but we would recommend to get something like the GAOMON PD2200 or one their 4K models for this type of use.
OFFICE / NOTE TAKING
4.5/5
For note taking either on a fixed setup or as a portable note taking display, the GAOMON PD1320 is well-equipped.
P
PERFORMANCE
4.5/5
Pressure & Tilt
The AP50 pen, showed the same detailed performance seen on other GAOMON pen displays reviewed that use the AP50 pen; this means that the pen is accurate and fast to small change in pen pressure and tilt.
Lag
The PD1320 has a report rate of 2200PPS, which in real life translated to a snappy operational use that never felt unnaturally laggy nor exhibiting any visual lag that could disturb while using it.
Jitter
As with most of the pen displays that we have reviewed, jitter is present on slowly traced diagonal lines aided by a ruler but it is not extremely jittery.
Tracking / Parallax
From the specs, the pen display has a max. tolerance of 3mm on the corners; from our tests, the PD1320 kept parallax and tracking under control throughout most of the surface and active area of the display, showing some parallax misalignment only over the extreme corners (falling within the expected 3mm)
