? KBEAR KS1, an extremely affordable earphone from KBEAR.

The KBEAR KS1 is part of the ultra budget-friendly line from the brand, allowing users to get a product with features such as detachable cables and custom-alike form factor for just a couple of bucks.

The KS1 is equipped with a single dynamic driver configuration per earpiece with a diameter of 10mm.

The housings of this KBEAR model are fully made of plastic with no metal sections (with the exception of the metal nozzles)

In addition to this, the unit has a bi-pin cable connection interface, compatible with all 2-pin cables.

The KBEAR KS1 is available in two colors and 4 different combinations: black with remote, white with remote and black or white without an inline remote.

The KBEAR KS1 exhibits a mid-bass boosted tuning with a very punchy profile.

As well, sub-bass is substantially deep for most modern genres and bassy tracks but their punchiness might rule the general feel of their bass.

This boosted mid and upper bass can be enjoyed by listeners looking for strong punch and bounciness but should be avoided by listeners who expect a clean and tight bass response.

With an EQ, their sub-bass can be pushed to be deeper and present a fairer competition to their intense punchiness profile.

Mids & Vocals

Male vocals and lower mids sound very full yet not distant but the excess of warmth and mid-bass bleed adds a clear layer of congestion to them when mid-bass is intense.

The upper mids and higher end of the midrange spectrum shows a better balanced sound with sufficient crispness and a good female vocals presence without becoming harsh nor disturbing.

Overall, the KS1 has a boosted warmth that might be too much for some listeners.

An EQ can make a night/day transformation of their midrange with a way clearer lower mid and better controlled bleed.

Highs & Treble

Highs on this KBEAR earphone offer a darkish-smooth response with sufficient brightness as to avoid a “drowning” feel.

Surely this should not be the first (nor second) choice for listeners who look for a pristine highs profile.

On the other hand, users who enjoy darkish highs that are still able to provide a bit of detail and brightness could like the tuning of the KBEAR KS1.

Unfortunately, despite the overall smooth feel of the highs and vocals, the KS1 does show some sibilance.

Using an EQ can boost some brightness and detail but their sibilance can be easily become too intense.

Sound Leak

The KS1 is a low leaking earphone with a leakage that is way less hearable than most normal headphones.

Owners of the KBEAR KS1 will be able to use it in any situation without any concern – even in libraries.
