The KBEAR KS2 features dual drivers with an hybrid configuration of 1 dynamic driver and 1 balanced armature driver per earpiece – the dynamic driver has a diameter of 10mm.
With the KBEAR KS2, the brand aims to cover the needs of audio enthusiasts on a tight budget.
KBEAR has been on the market for a little while and despite a rough start with their first model, has been able to produce some impressive bang for buck and performing earphones such as the:
With it’s cheap price, users should not expect the most robust build on the market; instead, the KBEAR KS2 is fully made of plastic but, consequently, being particularly light weighted – the only metal piece are the nozzles.
The earpieces can be chosen either in black or green (green is the model being reviewed by us and that you can see from our photos), with both a translucent design that allows to see the inner components of the earphone.

The KBEAR KS2 includes 4 pair of eartips and the detachable bi-pin cable.
The cables itself is exactly the same as you have seen on many KZ, CCA and TRN models; while the 3.5mm connector has an L-shape and the inline 1-button remote/control is constructed in plastic.

Bass & Sub Bass
The KBEAR KS2 has a meaty bass that will be welcomed by listeners who seek very punchy sound but could tend to be too much for users who are after a cleaner/less-boosted bass profile.
Said so, lower frequencies on this KBEAR earphone will be fun and exciting with, also, a deep extension of their sub-bass as to cover any bass-heavy genres without lacking mid-bass not depth at any given moment.
With an EQ, the KBEAR KS2 can become an overwhelmingly bassy earphone with lots of punch but can also loose too much control and take ownership of the sound signature.
Through our extreme basshead tests, the KBEAR KS2 took up to 50% of the max power of our portable amp with an exponential empowerment of both punch and depth.
This allowed it to reach a decent basshead rumble and impact but was unable to be as strong as the Top Basshead models.

Mids & Vocals
The KBEAR KS2 offers a warm midrange with full sounding vocals and a cozy feel on low pitched male vocals. Overall their lower midrange has a “gentle” flavor, that despite this can, still, provide sufficiently non-muddy sound – though congestion will be noticeable, mostly on mid-bass heavy tracks.
Higher mids follows the same style as it’s lower mids, with a good balance of pleasant sound while not becoming neither overly boosted nor too recessed.
Moreover, harshness and annoying peaks are quite rare on the KS2 midrange.
These midrange qualities, make the KBEAR KS2 a good companion for everyday listening and long-lasting music sessions that do not aim to critical listening.

Highs & Treble
The KBEAR KS2 does a good job resolving a decent amount of detail and providing brightness as to escape from darkness territory while at the same time not becoming too fatiguing.
In spite of this, users should not expect any jaw-dropping nor award-winning soundstage as this is not a particularly open, wide nor “spacious” sounding earphone nor excels in spatial placement.
Instead, the KBEAR KS2 will be able to present an agreeably balanced highs with nearly no piercing peaks and acceptable sibilance but with a tint of bass-bleeding that still extends onto their upper end.
Applying an EQ, brightness can be noticeably boosted and soundstage can be decently improved but these “improvements” will come at the cost of fatiguing peaks.

Sound Leak
The sound leaking out of the KBEAR KS2 is somewhat less hearable than on most average headphones.
On the other hand, the difference with these average headphones will not be too much as to become an earphone that could be used in libraries.
Yet, owners of the KBEAR KS2 can feel safe to use it for their daily commute without having to worry about disturbing nearby passengers.

Sound Isolation
The sound isolation provided by the KBEAR KS2 is noticeable right away, with a respectably subdued perception of the environment with or without music.

Comfort
With nearly-flush fit and a particularly light-weighted build, the KBEAR KS2 can provide a very good level of comfort and stable fit.
The form factor of the earpieces will not be new for users who own other earphones such as KZ ZSTX (reboot version of the KZ ZST)
If you are an user that cares about the specifics of nozzles; it is worth noting, that the KBEAR KS2 nozzles are longer and have a wider diameter than most average earphones.

Response to Equalization
The response to EQ of the KS2 offered substantial improvement on isolated sections but also introduced some cons such as: brightness/fatiguing peaks or punch/bleed.
